I don't know what Shane holds onto or doesn't anymore but the man has gone from ultra ultra con to now what appears to be ultra lib.
He used to run with an ultra con group in california, they're not UPC they might have even been trinitarian but they were hard-core cons, I wish i could remember their names....

Granted it has been several months since I have spoken to him, but he struck me as more moderate than "ultra lib".
Bro West is a long time personal friend. I can say that he was never what I would consider ultra-con. More of a moderate I would think. Last time I saw him he was wearing a short sleeve checkered shirt and a bright orange pair of those funny shoes....clocks....crocs...crocs.
