Dear Friends in the Homeland:
As some of you know we have several children that depend upon us in missions and our son in Law was just involved in a flooded area and only by a miracle from God He escaped.
However his car did not fare so well. The floods ruined the motor and parts. We have it at a shop right now they are asking for 3,500 to restore it. It is well worth repairing and getting another motor but He can only do it IF we can help him.
At this moment He is helping full time in the ministry here and we help them but we ourselves are not able to come up with this amount of Money. Would you please open your heart to a new missionary and help them.
Here are his words of what happened:
When I left the house it was a beautiful day. I went to get the weed eater from the maintenance shop and stopped at the post Office to get some things that had arrived for missions. When I was leaving it started to rain. It wasn’t just a little rain but it was like a monsoon. In a matter of minutes the roads started to fill with water. My brother-in-law called me and told me that He Just made it out and that I would have to go another way to get home because the water had already risen to the point where it was impassable. I began to go the other direction when my car couldn’t take it anymore. Water had got into the motor. I found myself literally floating in my car along with several other vehicles. I became very worried. The water was on top the hood of my car now and I was stuck like a prisoner. If I was to open the door it would flood the car inside with water and I would not be able to get out because of the force of the water. It continued to rain and the water continued to rise even higher. Trucks and buses were barely passing now. Every time that one did pass it shook the whole vehicle. It was like I was in the sea. I prayed, Lord the only one that can help me now is you. Only You can stop the rain and make the waters recede. Only You can calm the storm. Then after much prayer and much water, the Lord saw fit to extend His Grace to me one more time. The rain stopped and the Waters began to slowly recede. Some hours later I was able to get a tow truck to come get me out. If it wasn’t for the Lord I don’t know if I would have made it out alive. I have thanked the Lord for saving my life and I know that He has a plan for everything. In the process of all this the water that enter the motor of my car caused a serious problem. It is now at the mechanics shop. I am praying that the Lord would take care of this because He knows I cannot. I trust completely in Him and if He gave me the car He Will make a way to fix it. If we can look past our small area of vision and see the big Picture we will see that He is the one Who Will never forsake us. He gave us His Word on that. I am trusting in Him.
If anyone can help on this please earmark you offering for Brother Chad Thomas and send to our home address. We are thankful for those that have helped us in many needs over the past 43 years of missionary service.
May God bless you.
Brother and Sister Raul Alvear Sr and family

Dear Friends in the Homeland;
We send our thanks and greetings to you all as we continue our labor in the land of our calling.
We are thankful to the Lord as He continues to “do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think” ( Eph 3:20)
I really have lost count how many reports of baptismal services all over Brazil that have been conducted this past month. However I do know from the north to the south people have been baptized and here in the northeast we have baptized at least 15.
We just rented 2 buildings for churches in the state of Para, one new one in the state of Sao Paulo and as I write we are in the process of renting another building in a neighboring city called Messiahs.
We also rented a building in a little interior city in the state of Sao Paulo.
Brother Raul JR is giving the down payment for a little Baptist church in the state of Sao Paulo.
Missionary Hugo is working full speed ahead in the Indian tribe and repairing a building for a church there in the state of Mato Grosso. If not mistaken we already have 30 members among the tribe and others coming to the services. Our churches in Minas Gerias have been involved in a mission’s campaign gathering clothes and bicycles to help the Indians. We are so excited to see what God is doing.
Here in our area we have had some rough battles however we had had some tremendous victories.
We have so many blessings to share with you all. The church in NAVARI is finally roofed. Never has the devil fought one of our projects like he did in that area…however we are on the winning side.
In the state of minas a pastor with his group of churches (9) and has joined his efforts with ours. We are so thankful for honest hearted and hungry people. We have roofed several other places since we returned from the states and repaired several roofs due to the flooding and rains in several areas of Brazil.
We owe such a debt to all those who make so many things happen for the people here. Thank you so much.
Everyday for us to stay on the field is a miracle thank you for being part of that miracle. Without your help we could not reach the lost hungry souls.
This month we have started several new house meetings in new areas. One area where we have around 30 regular people coming is asking our help for them to buy a lot for a church. We have seen several but they all run around 7,500 dollars. Oh, how I WISH God would speak to people to help this little group. They are so poor. However they are our earth brothers and sisters that depend on us. We are excited about what we can yet accomplish together as the sun sets…May God give us wined feet to work as fast as possible before it is forever to late!
Your Missionaries to Brazil
May God bless you.

Would you help me?
This is not a need Just a want...a desire to make kids happy in our village and church.
As those that already know Brazil is a very expensive country. Most people that come over here are shocked by prices of things and especially in the northeast where life is so hard…
I was looking at a little playground things (very inferior to stateside stuff) HOWEVER A TINY LITTLE HOUSE, A SLIDE AND A SWING ALL TOGETHER. The price in dollars is 650.00. I AM WONDERING IF ANYONE WOULD FEEL ON THEIR HEART TO BLESS SOME CHILDREN.
Yesterday as I watched a few moments in front of our house lots of children watching men dressed in miniskirts dancing the carnival dances I LOOKED AT SO MANY VILLAGE CHILDREN WITH NOTHING TO DO LEARNING PERVERTED WAYS FROM THE WORLD. The thought came to my mind if these kids just had somewhere to play maybe we could help them…we have enough land behind the church to use for things like this if only someone would help me buy some things. One of the church sisters told me she could be available to tell a Bible story and I could often bake cakes or something for them.
Children never forget kindness shown to them. Once again this is not a need just something that came to my mind watching the children yesterday. If any should feel to help please earmark your offering for children´s project…thanks so much…
lMay God bless you.

Dearest friends in Missions
“We thank God for our every remembrance of you . . .” OH! HOW IMPORTANT YOU ARE TO THE BODY OF CHRIST AND ESPECIALLY TO US ON THE MISSION FIELD. I AM afraid we do not say, thank you enough.
I sat down today to take a few moments to tell you how important you are to us and the ministry here. Thank you so much for your support and prayers. YOU ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO US AND OUR FAMILY.
I look at people whose whole lives have been changed by the miracle working power of our God. People who were once idol worshippers today sit in His Holy presence with hands raised and tears steaming down their cheeks in worship.
Thank you for the prayers and support you have sent our way. We are so extremely grateful to friends like you who have clothed us in prayer as we work in the mission field.
Remarkably, there are still many people around this world that have not yet heard the name of Jesus, and the freedom He offers through a life surrendered to Him. The Bible also tells us: Luke 19:10 - For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost." We are compelled to seek out those who are lost, and impart to them the Gospel message.
There are many people we are serving that thirst not only for water, but also for knowledge of a caring and giving God. They hunger not just physically, but spiritually for the mercy and grace that God so freely gives when we know Him. It is our job, our mission and our call to quench their thirst and to give them physical and spiritual food so that they may be filled. HOWEVER WITHOUT YOUR HELP we could not do what we are doing.
Do remember us in your prayers as we get ready for our regional convention here. There is great excitement in the air. God has many things in store!
Again, thank you for making this mission a reality.
If you have any questions about our work, we would love to hear from you. Please email JANALVEAR@AOL.COM OR Bisporaul@uol.com.br..
YOUR MISSIONARY FRIENDS
BROTHER AND SISTER RAUL ALVEAR AND FAMILY

Dearest friends in Missions
How deep is the darkness of the soul of the person that has never heard the true gospel and lives in the rituals of paganism!
So great is his need for the one who is the Light of the World, the one who exchanges the heavy loads of idol worship and endless chanting to the assurance of a living Lord that both ears and answers prayers.
The millions of Temples that are filled with grimacing gods, burning candles and offering boxes seem to multiply. People live their whole lives in constant fear of evil spirits. It reminds me of what I once read:
We fear…
We fear the elements with which we fight to wrest our food from
Land and air…
We fear the cold and famine…
We fear the sickness all around us…
We fear the souls of the dead…
We fear the spirits of earth and air…
We fear…
An Eskimo shaman to Rasmussen,
Danish Explorer, ca. 1918…
Many are the fears of those that do not know Jesus....
Though I have live in Brazil 43 years I have not become accustomed to the heathenism. The minor tones of temple bells that ring to awaken the gods still pain me. Seeing people worship gods of wood and stone, gods who cannot hear or help send a pain to my heart. Idol temples that fill the cities and dot the hillsides and valleys, and the roadways, all filled with stone and chalk images so that some desperate soul can kneel down and try to find an answer to life's problems.
It still brings tears to my eyes to watch them burn candles to help the dead find their way in the beyond. What light other than the light of Jesus can light our pathways? May our hears beat with joy, and our lips tremble with praise to Him that among all people, He has chosen us, and called us out for His service.
Yes, I know very much about the dreary solitudes of a pagan world, the heart-rending trials, and the soul-harassing temptations. The feeling of being separated from friends, home, and country. Cut off from the consolations of Christian Fellowship, a stranger in a strange land, hearing an unknown tongue, surrounded by scenes of lust, blood, paganism, and spiritual darkness.
I know what it is to push on when others go back for an easier way of life. I know even at this moment what it is for my desk to have stacks of bills to pay and sigh each time a preacher needs funds for some unreached area, the pain of having bills to pay not for a new dress or some material thing but for Bibles, tracts, gasoline bus tickets and etc to reach the lost. I know what it is to trust when the night seems dark and long, the cupboard bare.
But, I also know the joy of seeing the witchdoctors converted, idol gods being thrown away forever, seeing a shack become a home in which the presence of Christ Himself dwells. Yes, I have watched this glorious company of blood-washed saints keeping time with music with uplifted hands in praise and worship to Him who brought them out of darkness into this marvelous light. I could not leave these dear people without violating the most solemn convictions of conscience. I would not exchange my humble toil among them for all the positions on the earth.
We face many dangers such as bandits, (just yesterday a robber entered our headquarters church) extreme poverty, hunger and disease. Even now as I write we are facing a severe challenge just making ends meet!
The gospel, in Brazil is often mixed with the local customs, traditions, and superstitions creating an often-confused culture, which is steeped in fear and power. It is not uncommon to find “Faithful, church-going, Christian” who also visits witchdoctors and wearing charms for protection from spirits. It takes many years working among the people to see them completely set free from the interwoven idolatrous culture that they are born in.
We rejoiced this weekend as 7 new souls went down in the precious name of Jesus. We rejoice with those thatare embracing Jesus and breaking free from bondage to evil spirits. The Light has come for many yet in our rejoicing we know we have so much more work to do yet so little time to do it in.
There is a strong influence from so-called Pentecostal churches that mix spiritism and Catholicism rituals and practices deceiving the people.
We need great wisdom to reach as many people with the pure gospel before it is forever too late. We can only do this with your help.
Leisure we do not anticipate nor desire until reaching the fair land where it is said of the redeemed, "They shall rest from their labors." Someone once said, "The spirit of Christ is the spirit of missions, and the nearer we get to Him, the more intense missionaries we become."
An Oxford University professor once said to his students, "Beware of having earthly future." God would have us with our hearts and minds on His heavenly kingdom, and not on the perishing things in this transitory world. May we always remain untarnished in our devotion and in our love for the souls of men.
We who know Jesus have great knowledge and power and with great knowledge and power comes great responsibility.
This month we are praying for funds to help a in a project in the jungle work. Please pray with us about this need.
God bless you for your faithful support and prayers.
His for a hurting world
Brother Raul and Janice Alvear
