Re: *Myles Young's Departure from the UPC*
sandra just out of curiosity when you say myles was never a conservative what do you mean? i dont know him or his dad personally, but i did know his grandparents when they pastored in our state. they were all fine folks. i was told that at gc after AM gave an gave an impassioned talk on res 4 bro myles got up and said thank you i have changed my vote, i have changed my vote from no to HELL NO ! i would call that edgy but also funny.not the way my dad would have talked but but non conservative ? i think its just the way the younger gen is going or has .their church certainly dresses like their conservative . maybe someone can enlighten me. ps good to see DA back with his pokes

Re: *Myles Young's Departure from the UPC*
This is what fell apart. ACE schools were a slick all inclusive little design package. The classrooms were designed with the desks around the room, each facing the wall. There were dividers between the desks. Each student faced the back wall and did their work facing the back of their little isolation cube in perfect silence. Students set silly little "goals" for the day, the week, and those "goals" on those little "goalsheets" were the basis for the homework if any. The punishment systems were on a demerit basis. Talk - demerit. Turn around - demerit. The uniforms were red/white/blue. Boys wore ties every day. Even the uniforms were designed by ACE. There was no direct contact with other students in the classroom. Need teacher's help? Put up a little flag and the teacher would come by. Teachers didn't actually "teach", they spent most of the day "monitoring" the students to ensure that they were still, quiet, and working. Still and quiet, sadly, were more important than "working" or quality of the work. The teachers were even called "monitors" in that program. Cross that with Church 4x a week and how in the world can that upbringing not be ultra, ultra conservative? In any case, although the (original) ACE system turned out lots of little robot soldiers, the actual quality of the education left much to be desired. Whoever designed that system was actually kind of sick. THAT is what fell apart but not before so, so many organizations fell for it hook, line, and sinker. After all, still and quiet can't be bad, right? ACE was about control.

Well, it hasn't fallen apart. ACE schools are still thriving all over the country. My friend's children attend one and love it. I know oodles and oodles of people who went through ACE schools and feel that they got a great education. (and not one of them acts like a robot soldier, either. )
I'm sure you know ACE is not a Pentecostal organization, anyway. Just used by many of them.

Re: *Myles Young's Departure from the UPC*
wia i think your a bit of a drama queen. they have ace in our area i dont ever recall red white and blue uniforms , little robot soldiers ? hardly ! church ? never 4x a week ,demerits not anymore ,one of the leaders children single handedly destroyed that .got so many it was discontinued thats still chuckled at today. that child turned out to be a great pastor in another area of the country. he certainly aint a little robot soldier. true to his roots in most areas though. if your goal oriented you do well if not you probably struggle but aint that true in life also? maybe your name says a little about my initial line? if you defend anything muslim like in your other posts and then say this you are to be ignored.its like defending basic socialism it dont work. never has never will! like obama, your big on symbolism like bowing to the saudi king, its disgusting and please dont give me the height differences foolishness that obamas aide came up with, watch the vids ,the king extends his hand to obamas chest he wasnt bending to get his hand, only to kiss it, which you would have seen if his aide didnt run a convenient photo block, saying all these 60s radical things didnt work then ,never will . crime ? doesnt happen in islam does it ? what a joke, no they just execute people daily in the town square and flog people in public and put it on the internet and the news for fun. or when someone says no to a marriage proposal like the young girl recently in afganistan. good bye ! ADMIN: is this terry g. with a new computer? i thought this was a christian apostlic like, forum not a place to basically defend islamic ways. BASH THE AMERICAN WAY WHILE LIVING OFF IT SO OBAMA, LIBERAL, JOHN LENNON, LIKE, ITS ALL OUR FAULT, THE WHOLE WORLDS PROBLEMS, IF WE COULD JUST CHANGE, THE WHOLE WORLD WOULD IMPROVE ! PLEEEEEASE

Re: *Myles Young's Departure from the UPC*
Drama? Sometimes. Recommendation though is try not to confuse dry humor with drama. Red, white, and blue uniforms? I recommend research then returning to share your (new and updated) findings to the e-world. I am quite sure you will discover something like that. You do research your answers before you post them don't you? (I withdraw the question, don't answer that) Little robots? I suspect, with no proof, that the initial vision was a little line of "christian soldiers". Don't know why. Maybe more research is needed? But...As you pointed out, the soldier thing didn't work out. Church schedule? GOTO #3 (research) and do not continue to make a habit of speaking of what you do not know. ACE modified? Most definitely. Your own words validate mine. Of course it was modified. The original books from 1973 are NO LONGER IN PRINT. Again, it did not work. S/N? Maybe innocent and all the good ones were taken. Who can say?
I will now do some charity work:
ACE stresses patriotism and traditional values. Most schools require students to
wear modest uniforms that are red, white, and blue (Fleming & Hunt, 1987)
http://www.marshall.edu/etd/masters/...sa-2005-ma.pdf
Anyway, the point, which I feel was missed, was ultra, ultra conservative upbringing.

Re: *Myles Young's Departure from the UPC*
I'm not sure why this became a thread about A.C.E., but yeah... most of them wear uniforms. And of course they've updated the textbooks.
And just because Myles Young had an ultra conservative upbringing, it doesn't make him personally uc. I have no idea whether he is or not, though, having never even met him.

Re: *Myles Young's Departure from the UPC*
Usually organizations and cliques are formed around personalities not values as a whole...(not speaking directly about any certain group just stating a fact)
