I corrected it but I thought your post was a little over the top

Don't thank me, Brother. Anything I can do to make your Christmas a little merrier, I am all to happy to do it.

Very wierd responses even yet.

Anyway, thanks to those who have understood what I am saying and supported it.

And PO, I accept your apology.

People are expected to come bare minimum of 3 services a week, just so they are not "forsaking the assembling" and then there are the bible studies, door knocking, bake sales, singing, etc. etc. etc. on top of it all. I have heard it said that some pastors emphasize a family night one night a week (mine did not). So, are the other 6 to be used for church?? There is little teaching on marriage, family, balance etc. Alsmot all the teaching, in my experience, is on Acts 2:38, going to church, winning the lost, giving and giving and giving to the church.

I don't think it has ever been God's will for people to spend so much time at church and doing church things. We need to focus on our families, our kids, our marriages, our work etc. This is the work of God. That should not be forgotten.

I have been saying this for over 20 years now. Based on my posts concerning "The Duggers" one may think I am anti-family -nothing could be further from the truth (although I AM anti-BIG family in many cases). The family is the very first institution that God created! Nothing, other than God Himself, supersedes it. In fact, it is the ONLY place you will find were pure communism actually works!
For some reason conservative (for the most part) churches (apostolic and others) have put the church, as indicated by the membership of the local assembly, FAR ahead of family. I also grew up where there were always three regular services as well as a youth one, and heaven forbid if you missed one of the three biggies -but were also looked on very favorably by the grand high potentate if you attended the youth as well. This speaks nothing of the many week long revival services and other specials.......

Your fellow church members are NOT your family! -Which needs to be said because so many have said they ARE their family, at the expensive of their unsaved (or saved) heathen "real" family members. I remember another message board where a young woman was lamenting the situation with her unsaved husband, who was a truck driver and only home 5-10 days a month. The days he WAS home also always fell on Sundays and she was totally, completely, utterly, unwilling to miss ANY service (two of course), thus didn't see him hardly at all that day. She out and out said her "church family" was more important. What was important was her ego and the desire to "be seen" as more saved by not missing services. Forget that the most important witness she could have done was to show her husband how important HE was by forgoing a couple of services to spend the day with him.

I am not above taking care of those other needs (para-church, missions), but when you attend a certain church on a regular basis and not tithe there then you are a not living up to your responsiblilty, which is sinful.

In Deuteronomy 26:12 they were told to give tithes to the strangers, orphans and widows - so I don't think God minds you giving to other ministries sometimes
