Re: Am I being asked to leave?

So did ANYONE in this thread say Bro. Steve should leave the forum? It seems from what I read he is dearly loved and everyone would be sad if he did. So it seems if he did leave it was what HE wanted to do.

I probably came the closest (in this very thread). I am sick of people playing the "I am going to LEAVE!" game, then sitting back as dozens beg them not to, at which point they reconsider and stay (of course). I basically said "ok, just GO then!".

Re: Am I being asked to leave?

Mikey,

Elder Epley is dearly loved by many including those of us who are 180 degrees from where he is in theology, philosophy, etc.

Elder Epley has some great wisdom to share that would benefit everybody and especially young preachers.

He is living proof that you can take strong stands without being personally offensive and also that a person with strong stands can be friends with those he disagrees with and not compromise those strong beliefs.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Nope. I don't believe that this IS a conservative forum. Nor do I believe it is a liberal forum. I believe we have a very good mix here. Which is exactly how it should be, in my personal opinion. Altho, I have to be honest and tell you that I've seen way too many conservatives jump ship and run away. I wish they'd come back because their input is absolutely as valuable as everyone else's. And who know who they just might convince? (not me. But it could happen for someone else.)

I want to take a firm and clear stand on this issue. I absolutely, 100% do not approve of women "dutting their hair".

However I do think there is not any biblical admonition not to cut their hair.

I was going to mention that I had never Dut my hair, and never plan to!

(uhmmm.... at least I don't think I have or will, since I don't really know what dutting is... it could be some totally cool technique)

I think I might have my hair dut every few weeks. That's what a deautician does to your hair, right?
