Abortion compared to a right to health care???

A woman lays dying of cancer...does she have a right to treatments that she cannot afford? Or would you sit back and let her die if no one stepped forward to pay the bill?
Here's a very real situation bro...last year in July a dear woman I knew died of a heart attack. She had symptoms for several weeks that she relegated to heart burn. She would have shortness of breath, tightness in the chest, and what she described as heart burn. Several weeks later she had a major heart attack and died.
Do you wanna know why she didn't go to the doctor when she first thought that something might be wrong?
Just guess. She didn't have health insurance. She couldn't afford it. She wasn't rich enough in some people's book to live.
This isn't merely a discussion about a political philosophy. This is a crusade to prevent people from dying.

Killing a child is in no way comparable to someone keeling over because he could pay for a kidney transplant.

If one sits back and watches a baby die when one could save it's life and doesn't...blood's on their hands. If one sits back and watch that same child 30 years later die because they needed a transplant but can't afford it and one could save their life by providing money to pay for it for them and doesn't...blood's on their hands.

I'll let ya'll rant about this.... I have too many things to do tonight. God bless.

While you doing whatever you got to do...someone doesn't have much to do but pray that God heal them from cancer...because they can't afford the treatments and their poverty is a death sentence.
I hope you enjoy whatever you're doing.
It's not about having a "right to health care"...it's about having a right to live.

I didn't know there were so many Social Darwinists in the Church.

Letting a person die when one could do something to save them is morally bankrupt, rather that person be a child or an adult needing a transplant or cancer treatment.

How's this?
Killing a child is in no way comparable to someone keeling over because he couldn't pay for proper cancer treatment.
Either way, health care is not an unalienable right endowed by our Creator and government is not instituted to secure it for everyone.

Is a law abiding citizen's right to live an unalienable right endowed by our Creator?

I think it's fair to ask ourselves...
...which Jesus do we follow?

Yes, through the charitable contributions of the church (faith based initiatives - where have I heard that before?) and through his healing power. He also believed the person who did not work to provide the needs of his family was worse than an infidel ( 1Timothy 5:8).

Apparently you did not get the point of the quote I posted earlier. I'll let you go back and read it again.
How many disease ridden children have you flown here from Africa, given them proper food, clothing, housing and medication? How disgustingly cold you are for not saving the lives of these poor little children. What a bad, bad, nation we live in who would sit back and allow such grand scale suffering to exist.
If you read the article I linked to it will show you how socialized health care will eventually do just the opposite as you suggest it will do. It will end up causing more death than we have now, friend.
Btw, once we have a 'national health care' don't you realize those who can afford BETTER care than that offered through the system will have BETTER care? What gives them the right to have any BETTER care than those who cannot afford the LUXURY? Capitalistic pigs! What makes them think they are any better than the rest of society? Oh wait, those rich boys will be paying for the majority of the national system won't they? But, no need to worry, because the national plan will drive health care companies OUT OF BUSINESS and though those government sanctioned entities will, of course, survive, those Godless free marketing and capitalistic money grabbing rapers of society will be gone for good. What...what did you say? Government is now raising their costs as well? HUH??????
Let me guess. You believe the minimum wage should be higher as well, right?
Blame Adam for the death and suffering in this world, not the government.

How many of these uninsured Americans are really uninsured people who come across our borders uninvited along with those who have chosen to make the welfare system their career? Statistics lie. I saw an almost new Jag pull up in front of a WICK office a few days ago to get her food stamps for her baby. It's all in where your priorities are, Jag, Cadillac, Lincon, oversized TV and cable service or health insurance. I found out a long time ago, you can't always have your cake and eat it too.

Good post, soun. I had dinner with someone the other day who said she asked an applicant during an interview for some social service why it was he did not want to get out and work. He answered it was because he was always tired.
Yes, programs are needed, but there are needless strains on those programs. If only those who were truly incapable of providing the basics for themselves, and if, as you said, the priorities of all involved were in correct order, the programs already established would be far more reaching.
