are you saying that there have been no other upc churches in this area for 20 years? What about home missions churches? Districts are broken into sections how many churches are in your section? Surely there had to be somewhere else for you to turn.

My pastor is UPC. He often preaches revivals for an ALJC church in New York state.

In such a case, are you saying that my pastor shouldn't be free to preach for this ALJC church if the local UPC pastor has a problem with this???

My personal opinion, its none of the UPC pastor's business as to who the ALJC church chooses to bring in to preach for them. Nor is it any of his business as to which church my pastor preaches in.

As to the WHY portion of your post...my pastor preaches at this church because the church WANTS him there. And because he wants to help them in any way he can.

Section 5 was a very small section. I think every pastor in the section held some type position because there just wasn't that many preachers and churches in the section.

WE was the presbyter and he is a great guy. I have preached for LM who was the sectional secretary many many times. He and I have talked the fact that section 5 needed do to something about getting more preachers in the section.

So there really was no where for them to go.

That has been the rule for years. It is one reason why I have not considered going through the process I would have to go through to get my license back with the UPCI. I am not going to call the UPCI pastor in every town I preach at and ask if I can preach for the ALJC or independant pastor in his town.

It has always been my understanding that this rule didn't apply to ALJC churches.

I happen to know my pastor does not call and get "permission" to preach these revivals.

I didn't realize you weren't UPC licensed anymore. I guess that would explain not being back to Millington huh?

When WE resigned I thought section 5 disolved. I know I have gone to church in that section for 27 years and hardly knew there was any other churches in the section.

Of course we are now out of the UPC and on the blacklist.

Sure, there are other UPC churches in the area but they are not close. They are much smaller than the church in discussion. The closest church would probably be 30 to 45 minute drive.

The point however is, where is God calling this group? If it is to evangilize the community where they live what are they to do? I say start a work for God there!

I live in an area where there are 3 UPC churches in the city limits (this does not include 2 more within 5 to 10 miles of these 3) and this town is smaller than the one in question. They only have 1 UPC church.

What are we in this for man's kingdom or God's Kingdom??!!

I say let's go into the highways and the byways and compell them to come in to the feast!!! As my pastor has said many times, when you pray for revival and church growth pray for our neighboring churches before you pray for our own church. Also, as long as they are saved he stated he did not care where they went to church just as long as they are founded in the truth.
Now this is a vision for growing God's Kingdom!!!
