As of 11:00 pm last evening our governor here in Michigan has ordered all schools to close until April 3rd for the safety of all. Dr. Fauci said on GMA moments ago that while this doesn’t seem to be effecting children if exposed to Covid-19 it could be carried to grandma or whoever… he also said that before this thing is contained it could be up to another 8 weeks at the least.

So here is where I am going… my pastor’s wife told me last night the pastor in Spain (can’t think of his name) has canceled services for a time because of the virus. Others of us may have to do the same. I know in caring for my 89 year old mother we may just do SS and not the 11 am service due to our church running over 2,000…

I think these things are appropriate measures, however… this was posted by someone last night, “We’re about to see who the real Apostolics are in America. The early church would’ve went to prison before they shut down worship.”

Because I didn’t want to confront an elder online I didn’t respond, but can y’all help me here?

Didn’t the 1st Church in the beginning worship from house to house? And if the state or feds want to limit spreading this is it wrong to ask us to limit the size or even to suspend meetings for a time? And isn’t doing the above and closing all houses of worship on a permanent level two different things?

For the record: NO ONE can shut down my worship!!! My worship is not based on where I am or if my pastor is preaching!!! While we should forsake not the assembling of ourselves, I don't believe I’m not going to yon lower regions if required to make temporary adjustments. If that is what people think then we have a lot of religiosity and lack a personal relationship with God.

We are SO spoiled! America has no real conception of the things third-world endure on a daily basis. So our store shelves are bare… how many of us have to walk miles for a jug of water, carrying it home on our heads? We may have to endure hardship, but it is my prayer that the Church can set the example of enduring this with some dignity.

Sorry for the long post… one more point regarding church services, Bro. Bernard sent out this letter in part, “…we will follow the recommendations or instructions of governmental and health officials. The appropriate district board or ministry committee will make any decision to postpone or cancel a meeting. Local churches may need to consider options for small group meetings, online services, and electronic contributions.”

What say ye?

You mean to tell me you believe sicknesses and diseases are contagious?

Just by the media speaking this sickness out there and building it bigger than what it is, look how everyone is reacting! Tom Hanks and his Wife tested positive, and they’re taking selfies together! NBA stars tested positive and there doing fine being quarantined. Media speaks fear and loom what happens, it’s like the end of the world. Stores are empty with bath supplies, water etc. I thought Your words don’t matter.....

Re: Coronavirus contains HIV genes

POA just posted a statement on FB 20 minutes ago:

A message from our pastors to the POA church family:

Gathering with the church is vitally important to the believer. Because of this, we will not be canceling any of our services at this time. In the event a state or federal agency issues a directive closing public events, we will comply.

Following are our suggested guidelines, some of them from Governor John Bel Edwards’ website:

▪️If you are showing symptoms that are common with the coronavirus (a fever with coughing and shortness of breath), first seek medical attention. If you have these symptoms – or other flu symptoms – please stay home and watch the service online via Facebook, YouTube, or LiveStream.

▪️Remember our standing policy in Wonderland ChildCare and POA Kids is that children must be fever free for 24 hours before being admitted into these areas.

▪️We encourage you to wash your hands frequently. (We are providing hand sanitizer in highly visible places throughout our campus buildings, requesting everyone use these products frequently while on our campus.)

▪️Refrain from simple actions such as shaking hands and then touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.

▪️Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue.

With the heightened awareness and public concerns regarding the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) we want to assure you we are carefully monitoring this situation at POA. We are taking a proactive approach to ensure our environments are clean and safe, and that your health and well-being is our top priority. Our already thorough cleaning procedures have been enhanced across campus – including RUSH/POA Kids, the Family Life Center and the POA Events Center.

Again, if you, your children, or any member of your household is ill, please stay home and watch our services online at poa.church.

Even if you are not officially diagnosed with COVID-19 (Corona Virus) or one of the regular flu viruses, please take care of yourself – and respect your church family – by staying home.

If you are unable to attend any of our gatherings due to sickness, please continue to honor the Lord in your giving by making your financial contributions online at www.poa.church or by mailing your tithes and offerings to the church:

We cannot live in fear. God is – always has been and always will be – faithful. His Word is true. So, we will pray for the sick. We will look for opportunities to share the gospel with others. We find peace and rest in Him – the almighty, all powerful God of the universe who created us – formed us – and redeemed us.

“But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob,
and he that formed thee, O Israel,
Fear not: for I have redeemed thee,
I have called thee by thy name;
thou art mine.”
(Isaiah 43:1)

You mean to tell me sickness is NOT contagious?! Okay... say youre in an airport and a stranger sneezes in your face... you're just going to go about your business without concern? NOT WORRY, but concern. Let's say someone in church service next to you has a hacking cough and doesn't cough into their arm, you're not going to be concerned?

Concern and taking precautions over something we know next to nothing about is wisdom, at least to me. I am not operating in FEAR or PANIC, but I am concerned to protect my mother who is knocking on 90...

I thought I was making a positive post, and asking for the opinion of pastors re the remark online about seeing who the real Apostolics are... my worship is not hindered because of a momentary inconvenience.

Re: Coronavirus contains HIV genes

As I was out and about a few moments ago it occurred to me to clarify my thoughts…

Everyone must follow the beat of their own drummer here. My experiences in that last year or so have given me pause when it comes to the care of my mother, and me as well…

I am 6 years in remission from Stage Three cancer, praise the Lord! But without going into too much info here the treatment and after effects lead me to have to make certain changes in my life… As for my precious mother, she was in the hospital 12 times in 2019!!! So if I take extra precautions with us both it is for a reason…

What I totally reject is this notion posted on FB that this crisis will determine the real Apostolic from the ‘kindacostal crowd’… I resent the implication that was made. I don’t know what any of you are facing in life, and even if you post here I still don’t have a clue. So it would behoove us all to do what we feel is best in this.

Anyway… thanks for letting me vent here a little. Lol Stay safe, and be encouraged… God’s got this!!!
