That praise and worship leader's encouragement to his church is definitely a classic for the AFF annals.

So you are the authority on praise and worship for others?

Sorry Jason, that seems unkind. I do have a question for you though. Do you think some worship because of their personalities? Quiet people tend to worship quietly, while outgoing people do just the opposite? Lately my worship has been weeping and quietly praising Him. I don't attend church so I am not affected by how others worship.

Cindy, I doubt there is an unkind bone in your body!
I think you are right about personalities, but it may go beyond that. It seems sort of strange to me that we even think we can know something that is primarily a function and communion of the inner man unto God.
Will there be some outward manifestation when one worships? Yes, perhaps. What we do know for sure, is that physical mechanics can be and very often are false and bad indicators of spiritual conditions. Knowing this, then I think it becomes immediately suspect to "cheerlead" or prompt anyone to produce outward results beyond just the very basic (such as keeping time to the music by clapping etc.) Schockmoo, tears, and running are easily duplicated and learned behaviors, and no I am no saying they always are... but if they are elicited they are of little value IMO

I really, really don't think there is a soul here that wants to shut down your testimony. Please don't feel that is what any of us want.
The fact is, the redeemed have a natural outflow of joy and thanksgiving. Yet I think our greatest asset to the kingdom is not found in our physical demonstrations of worship. Far more important is the Christian witness and compelling others to know him. The two need not be at odds IMO.

Re: Sit Down and Behave Yourself!
This past Saturday night, God visited our church.
16 men gave their lives to the Lord for the first time.
21 men were filled with the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking tongues.
When these events happened, there was a guy at a piano playing, "I Surrender All."
There were people praying one-on-one for each other (for most of the infillings). They were at the altar while there were many more in the pews, with only some of them praying for the Holy Spirit to fall-- some stopped praying before the Lord fell on the seeking men.
11 of those men were baptized in water today!
God did not move like I had hoped He would move (given my 25 years of fellowship with UPCI churches.)
Very few of these guys were leaping and no one was running. This had more to do with the culture of the church and NOT their race (a VERY IMPORTANT distinction to be made in he context of this discussion.)
Nevertheless, I was praying to see God manifest Himself in my new church and He opened my eyes so I could see Him.
I saw that God meets people where they are. He lifts them up. When He touches them, they know it and others will too.
We have our different ways of praising and worshipping our GOD and Savior. Nevertheless, true Christians will praise and worship the Lord as the Bible prescribes.

Re: Sit Down and Behave Yourself!
We were not silently seeking God-- we prayed audibly, some louder than others.
We were all joyful-- we were all emotionally affected by the moving of the Holy Spirit, some more than others.
Still, we saw the Lord move in our service on the hearts of true believer and church goer alike.
HALLELUJAH JESUS!
