I don't think that responsible application is impossible or an oxymoron.
This thread has, indeed, been an eye opening experience.

First...
My apologies for using your post to say that.
I had pulled it up to post and changed my mind and made that one statement.
Of course... your stance on this has been an eye opening experience... but I was not directing that post to you personally.
But... to answer your question.
Both good and bad.
The Good... me and Ferd on the same page on a subject like this. Go figure. This has been good to be on the same side with the Ferdster.
The Neutral...You & PO have been an eye opening experience because I wouldn't have thought that you would take the positions you have. And that surprises me and has been quite an eye opener. I guess I see things eye to eye with you 2 so often that I begin to think we see things alike across the board. But, of course, that is never the case when there are 2 humans
The Bad... there are a few that not only take the side you take but have some ideologies that are just plain old scary. These ideologies are the ones that turn in their neighbor because they "seem" a little militia-ey or something feely touchy like that.

It's just plain scary.
I think the part that I highlighted is very good and very healthy...especially the last line. I think it is only natural when people think for themselves that they will not be a "cookie-cutter" ideologically. I respect the fact that Ferd and many others are individual thinkers so at times they happen to fall in step with the party lines..and at times they don't. It's funny how on some subjects I find myself aligned with someone and then on others we're worlds apart.

This appears to state that there are directives that you know of and we are missing.
Do you not know of any directives that fly in the face of our opinion on this matter?
If not then why would you say that we need to review the directives?
The threatening directives? Are they told to threaten arrest and handcuffs for asking questions?
I listened to this 2 times and find their threats are disgusting in their training. I am sure a lot of people on the web have had a putrid experience also.
These interrigators sound like bad people that wear uniforms. i am sure some get reported and fired from time to time.
They need to be reiminded of their own laws. That is to prevent weapons being brought aboard. Under Marxism, it will be unlawfull to carry currency without permission.
However today, it is also not rare for money to have been handled by drug dealers and it couuld have some cocaine on it.

You line of thinking goes bad places....dark, awful and bad places.
Paranoia. You see...this guy is only looking for attention he knows what he was doing. You have no idea how much stress is on airport security to protect passengers. This guy's a jerk. Sorry, I've seen the job that airport security has to do, I'm on their side bro. It's a shame it isn't a crime to harass airport security.

nothing wrong with that if the scenario you are suggesting were the case.
what we know is that was not the case. TSA simply held him because he had some money on him that was out of line with what others generally had on hand.
I think it's more than that. The guy was carrying an unusual amount of cash which opened him up for questions. It was his failure to cooperate that got him into this mess. If it were you or me, odds are we would have cooperated and not been detained. Sorry bro...if I were airport security I'd be wondering, "Why in God's name isn't this guy cooperating? What's he hiding? Why is he not answering simple questions that would get him on his way? Is he a threat to me? Is he a threat to passengers? Is he a criminal?" And yes...I'd detain him. This guy was essentially harassing airport security and insighting a response from them. Put yourself in the shoes of airport security. This guy had an agenda, his a conspiratorial activist. I'm thinking that harassing airport security should be a crime, a felony in fact. It distracts them from their job, and weakens our multi-layered security posture putting the lives of hundreds if not thousands of people at risk. While he was playing games real agents were tied up from doing a real job.

Hey, I believe you are right, that was weird wasn't it, but true none the less.
