He meant your reference to Jeremiah 10.

That being said, it is really tragic to think of people like Nona Freeman and TW Barnes, as well as other greatly used ministers, are lost right now because they celebrated it. Scary thought

A thought based on weak arguments.

Just a thought if what Esaias believes is true.

Christmas is pagan - "yahweh" is a total disaster
Exodus 32:4-5 AV
And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool,
after he had made it a molten calf: and they said,
These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation,
and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD.
While I generally agree with Esaias on this thread:

Someone has distorted Albert Barnes to have hin invoking the dark side entity “yahweh” == Jupiter.
This is not
Albert Barnes (1790-1870)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Barnes_(theologian)
who properly used the Bible name JEHOVAH.

Albert Barnes does NOT use the devil name "Yahweh" (which is the name Jupiter. Jove-pater is Jupiter and Jove is pronounced Yahweh.)
Albert Barnes properly uses Jehovah and LORD in his book, as you can see here.
Notes: Critical, Explanatory, and Practical on the Book of the Prophet Isaiah: With a New Translation, Volume 3 (1840)

Now, I realize that you probably picked up this mangling from a source like Studylight, however it is extremely important that it be corrected, representing Albert Barnes properly.
Thanks!

And I wrote about this on:
Facebook - Pure Bible Forum
https://www.facebook.com/groups/pure...9001701525047/
===================================
Looking for the Albert Barnes OT commentaries online, I see Job, Psalms, Isaiah, Daniel and Chronicles, have not seen the Pentateuch.
There is some indication online that Barnes wrote in 1834 "Notes on the Bible" (or some similar name) that included the Pentateuch, yet when John Kitto mentioned many of his works in 1856, there is no such indication.
The Pictorial Bible Being the Old and New Testaments (1856)
John Kitto
https://books.google.com/books?id=I7oTAAAAQAAJ
So now there is even a fundamental question as to whether there is an Albert Barnes Commentary on all the OT books.
===================================
There are others who use the exact quote that Esaias uses, and properly have it as Jehovah, or JEHOVAH, here is one:
Exodus: Or, The Second Book of Moses, with an Explanatory and Critical Commentary (1874)
Francis Charles Cook
https://books.google.com/books?id=Kyf3vtHtE7MC&pg=PA405
So far I cannot explain why the same quote is used and Albert Barnes is not mentioned. This will likely take some checking.
Albert Barnes was an Associate Editor of the Presbyterian Quarterly Review in 1867 when they ripped to shreds the book by Alexander MacWhorter (1822-1880) with the title: Yahveh Christ, or, The memorial name.
Presbyterian Quarterly Review (1867)
MacWhorter on the Memorial Name p. 86-105
https://books.google.com/books?id=6-0WAQAAIAAJ&pg=PA86
The Review has some interesting historical scholarship.

Interesting. It was copy pasted from e-sword on my PC. I read it and thought that it looked a bit out of place.
Barnes' Notes covers the whole Bible, however there are several OT books that he himself did not comment on, they were done by a couple other authors. I'll check my print version to verify.

Think of the Wesley boys! And Finney, Edwards, Luther, St Francis and Chrysostom, and good grief! Mother Teresa!!!! Think of all those people who, if anyone deserves heaven, they do! I mean, look at ALL THEIR GOOD WORKS!!!!!
Point being, they all had the same Scriptures we got today, and nobody is judged by anyone else's walk.
