Well, I'm not crying...I just sometimes want to.

Amen to the bolded part...it wasn't all bad.

I don't know...I think they know exactly what they do! I've since heard stories about the current pastor...from someone who had been there from the begining...

Reading this thread brings to mind the book "Starving Sheep and Over-fed Shepherds", written many years ago by a well-known evangelist. Its unfortunate when God's people become enslaved by the self-appointed "shepherds" who care nothing for the flock. They care only about the control and power they seize over the people of God. Sheep do not have to be controlled. They need to be led... led by a caring shepherd that has their welfare at heart.
In my younger days, I, too, became a victim of one of there "lord's over God's Heritage". He was "THE man of God", through and by whom God's Word came. HE decided who would get married to whom..HE decided what was doctrinally correct, HE decided where you would work, how much you would give. I spent several years alienated from my family because they were "of the world". It took time, and spiritual growth, to do exactly what God's Word tells us to do..."from such turn away".

Sorry, for any misunderstanding, I was referring to the church we attended in Dallas, TX. Not Sister Truth Seeker's former church. The similiarities are striking however.

.
I hate that you went through all of this, but it is a bit comforting to find those who have gone through similar circumstances. There are so many who don't even believe or know that this stuff really happens in "the church".
