But, I stand by my own opinion. You don't drag the church out with you. The church was built under the umbrella of the UPCI and should remain.

Someone on here made a statement that he has the right to leave because the UPC changed their view on TV advertising. Ok, so we all know that they changed. But when the TV thing was put in place so MANY years ago, they had no idea that the technology would progress to where it is now. Res. 4 doesn’t make that much of a difference in the grand scheme of things. Not everyone can afford to advertise on TV anyway. So, why pay such a large amount of money to use a TV when you can use the internet for basically free.

Technology does not = Being Liberal

Advertising is just that, advertising. Why not put a stop to putting ads in the paper or in the phone book and don’t use the internet. Get rid of all technology and don’t use anything that had been invented within the last 15 years. (The devil may be lurking in your cell phone)

The church was not built under the umbrella of the UPC. The church was built under the "umbrella" of Jesus Christ. It is Christ's church, and it so happens that Christ appointed VM to pastor said church.

Every church is built under the UMBRELLA of JESUS CHRIST – duh!

For Each and Every church that has ever been UPC or, is now UPC was built under the Umbrella of the UPCI. It was influenced by every Conference, Camp, Bible Quiz, etc. If an individual moves from one town to another and changed from one UPC church to another, then the UPC has had a hand in the building that church body. That was and is my point!

You wanted VM to leave but allow the church to remain UPC. Your own words!

The pastor of said church feels that is not the will of God for said church to remain in the UPC.

I would hope that a Pastor who feels the need to change his fellowship with a specific organization would have open and honest dialogue with the members of his church body. A Pastor who has no dialogue with the members of his church leaves himself wide open for attack. I don’t think a board needs to run the church but a Pastor who is so controlling that he can’t or won’t listen to those he is serving is not someone who should be leading. I realize that there are many factors that go into the process of leaving an organization like VM has done. I used to hang out with his two sons and have been to his church so even though he is an Ultra-Con, I still respect him for what he has done for the kingdom of God. But just because he has been at his church for so many years why does he have the right to take the church with him.
