Re: 2nd Presidential Debate

Was Obama proposing another line item veto during part of his talk? We know that is what McCain would like.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_Item_Veto_Act_of_1996

I didn't watch all of the debate but the part I did like about McCain was his unwillingness to prioritize the three things Brokaw asked but instead said he could work on all three at once!

One of the things I don't like about McCain is his disrespectful talk concerning other nations whose ideologies we disagree with. I wish he would be a little more diplomatic with his words when speaking of foreign governments. Like in the last debate he said Iran had a "lousy" government! I agree but surely he could have been less insulting. I also don't like his health insurance idea.

I like that he addresses them as such. He wants them to know that they are not going to mess with us and we call them as we see it. Course, I'm from Texas and we are used to it being done that way.

So our official foreign policy position is that we will not talk to them, only about them...sounds like some other people I know.

Re: 2nd Presidential Debate

Can someone correct my spelling now? I've been on-line so much since the Democratic Convention that I'm melting.

I like McCain's line - "Oh, Please!"

We are not going to be able to talk to someone that calls Israel a corpse. Pointing out their deficiencies is okay by me. We haven't been able to talk to one single dictator who changed his mind, have we?

What did you think of SlowFade last night when he called McCain an idiot? Well, that is what many people think of McCain when he calls the Iranian government "lousy"! How is the US ever going to have a chance to dialogue with Iran if we degrade them by calling them names (even if they have a lousy government which we fundamentally are at odds with)?

PO, we have a record of tough diplomacy in our past for sure. I don't want to rehash this whole debate, but suffice it to say that while we have been shunning talks, the threats have been increasing.

I have "Slowfade" on Ignore.

Well, we have never called another country a stinking corpse, but we have pointed out the things not working. I don't know how else to reword a "lousy" government. If it's "lousy", it just is.
