Like Peter puts it- "The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us ... by the resurrection of Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 3:21 Peter tells us how baptism saves us - by what only Jesus Christ Himself could accomplish, the resurrection from the dead.

I was saved and was baptized (Mark 16:16), but it was Jesus Christ Himself who saved me, not my baptism.
We have a winner!!!

Yes amen. For you and your children.

They are also required to then break bread and take communion - or they are none of His. This should not be taken to mean they obtain salvation through the same.

Howard Goss admitted that some of his associates interpreted Acts 2:38 as positing the remission of sins through water baptism. His own position however, was that baptism occurred because sins had already been remitted.

IF one has not been baptized in Jesus name, then according to the rules here at AFF, they have not been obedient to the ONLY bible pattern of baptism. This would place those that believe that you can be baptized any ole way and still be saved outside of agreement with these rules.

I think the joke here is that Daniel wanted to try to push this off, yet later on he plainly states that the mode of Baptism is not important. So Daniel, your vote don't count.

Also ...the biblical meaning of "in the name of "... is entirely a different discussion for another day, Tim.

Do you believe that that salvation hangs on the baptizer getting it right?

I agree it matters not who baptized you. It matters that you were baptized. I say this without confusion baptism should be administered in Jesus name. Having said that I stand firm behind what I said on this forum months ago. The word in the Bible baptiso or baptismo both speak to washing as in washing hands, dunking something like cookies in milk as example, running under water-like washing hands, DROWNING-like dying because you consume too much water. In other words, it was and is a common word used in various ways. There are a lot of people that put a ton of importance into the word and pull out the meaning of dunk or dip under and say 'that is why baptism is to be administered in dunking under the water. Baptism is a outward sign that you have mad Christ your King.

In the Bible the baptism was administered in the name of the person that the person being baptized had followed. People following John were baptized in John name because the followed him. Following God/Jesus we are to be baptized in his name, however, the mode of baptism is not the most important factor in the whole procees. The important factor is that the one being baptized is identifying with the one they are following now, Jesus the Christ!
Acts 4:12. No other name, given among men, whereby we must be saved. Titles do not remit sin.
