Having church during a pandemic sends a clear message to the community: we don't care if you live or die.
Scripture says don’t forsake our assembling, you say forsake our assembling.
I think a creative way to assemble is the answer...maybe w rotating small numbers w the body of Christ, wherever they can...our homes, in the back 40 around a fire pit, a church bldg, ... wherever. But we must not forsake gathering in His name.
Scripture doesn’t give a list of “Unless”’s.

Scott don’t forget to warn the pregnant women not to drink the water.

I agree, we should somehow keep assembling as this can take months. It won’t likely be just one week of no service. We just gotta get creative.
If 10 in a small group get the virus at least we are not contributing with flooding the hospitals. Now if we get 100 together and 50 get it and people know that we were still gathering the community will look at us not as victims of a gov’t persecution but as negligent and responsible for flooding the hospitals.

What is the definition of forsake?

If your wife gives birth and you miss Wednesday night service one time, have you forsaken the assembly?

Merriam Webster

Forsake: to renounce or turn away from entirely

Sorry to be a party pooper, but words have meanings.

It mentions not forsaking assembly themsleves so much the more as they see the day approaching? What day were they to see?

I’m not having a melt down. Matter of fact, just yesterday at work I was singing unto the Lord until some glossolalia came out... Whoops! How embarrassing.
Everyone is wearing earplugs anyway... and the machinery is loud. So...

Thankfully the opinions of communists like yourself don't matter to lots of people.

I didn't know Scott wrote for the New York Times?

The Road to Coronavirus Hell Was Paved by Evangelicals

Trump’s response to the pandemic has been haunted by the science denialism of his ultraconservative religious allies.
