Why is the dying person repenting?

Because he or she knows his or her time is up, and they're scared of judgment, or think to get God on their side in some contrived or manipulative way?

Or because the Holy and Righteous God of the Universe commands it, and obedience to Him, even in the last moments of life, is a holy and righteous thing to do, whether God saves or judges them?

As such, I am all for anyone repenting, near death's door or otherwise, and it may be that God will grant such a person repentance. He will have mercy on whom He will have mercy.

This brings me to remembrance of the parable that Jesus gave of the man that hired workers for his field throughout the day and paid them all the same wage.
I think we are to quick to condemn someone to hell just because they don't accept Christ just the way we think they should.
