Re: I Value Anonymity. Why Demand Otherwise?

I used to go by my actual name on this forum. However, years ago I had my Jeep keyed, and I was harassed by a few brothers in the church parking lot for questioning the Bush Administration's policies (I voted for President G.W. Bush against Al Gore). On the second go around, I was critical of Bush. It caused problems. So, I started using the handle "Aquila".

To request that someone disclose who they are is a form of threat. Because it can be an issue of personal safety. It can also put a chill on the freedom with which we share our views and opinions. Since some opinions aren't popular, it can even affect a career or ministry.

As a forum community, I'd recommend resisting all efforts to violate anonymity with extreme prejudice.

This forum is a voluntary association and with that voluntary association there are rules and people here to enforce those rules...it's not a heaven or hell thing...just gotta obey them to stay here. What Admin says goes.

I have no healthy interest in digging through all your posts finding word clues to figure out exactly who you are. I have a wife, kid and life that is much more interesting...further more Im taking some steps back from all the debate and arguments on here.

You're wrong about me creating and enjoying drama.
I DON'T want you to waste your time digging.
I am beung cryptic because I don't want to reveal my identity.
No one else is being asked to do that and even if we were, it is completely unnecessary.

Thamk you.
Even revealing former screen names can be tricky once people decipher certain information connected to the former screen name.

So, do you or have you had multiple screen names on this forum?
I really do not care who you are, but if you have multiple screen names you need to own up.

JediWill,
VotiveSoul asked me to start a thread divulging my identity and demanded an apology. That is the only reason why I started this thread.

I maintain that this request is unfair and inconsistent.

That request is unfair and inconsistent with how AFF has treated other posters for YEARS up to this point. I have not broken any rules. The request is unnecessary.
