Re: What Would You Do?
Your answer is right here:
1 Corinthians 5:9-13,
Quote:
9. I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
10. Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.
11. But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
12. For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
13. But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

Only those who are claiming to be siblings in Christ, who are actually fornicators, are to be rejected and not fellowshipped. The rest, who are outside the faith, Paul makes clear that you cannot at times but help to company with fornicators. Let God be their judge.
The likelihood that some graphic PDA is going to take place and shock the masses and scare the kids is slim to none. In fact, even if they hold hands or give each other a quick kiss, none of the kids are even going to care, most likely, if they are young enough, and if they are old enough, they will know what's up.
So, the bottom line is, is the goal to see the daughter saved, or to build up such a hate-filled animosity and resentment that she projects that onto Jesus and never gets saved?
I mean, how did Jesus ever win anyone to Himself? By not socializing with sinners?

I love this answer. It makes perfect sense, and it's exactly what I have thought of myself.
Unfortunately, I'm not the one making the decisions here about what is and isn't acceptable at this gathering. This isn't my Father's Day. All I can do is attend and pray for the best.

Re: What Would You Do?
At the end of the day this father is still the father to both these kids. Its a fathers day celebration. I bet this same father would be offended if the daughter was invited bit decided not to show.

Re: What Would You Do?
Forgive me for being blunt, but if the children you raised turned out that way, I do not feel that a celebration is in order.

Dumbest thing I have ever heard. I have two kids one 18 living on his own and a child on the way out of wedlock. My daughter is 14. I can never imagine my kids doing anything to negate the fact that I am their father!!!!
