Re: Satan and Our Pursuit for Self

Just dealt with this topic on Wednesday.

Demonic spirits are easy to cast out, self must be crucified.

Iniquity is basically my will versus God's will. Acts tells us that iniquity is bondage.

As far as the excuses for sinning, they get very imaginative.

They repented. But the problem is delving back into it again. So we will see how actual repentance fared or not. I am coming down firmly on this now. They know in their heads it's wrong and can explain how wrong it is over and again. But I said I may have to remove them from the church if this keeps up again.

If they really want God more than their sin, God will bring them out. Even if they struggle with the intense feelings, but want God more, He will surely bring them out. It's that simple. You have to have the want to.

Maybe there WAS a place for the old hell fire preaching... seems people have lost the fear of God these days....

It really is a matter of having the fear of God.

Sometimes our love for God helps us more than our fear of Him.

That is very true. When we feel the mercy and love of God in spite of terrible weaknesses and sin, it can be a very powerful thing to bring one from sincere repentance into that overcoming power.

Re: Satan and Our Pursuit for Self

This situation I am dealing with is a little different, though. MANY believers make this mistake and think they're not adulterers.

The woman never was married. the man was married and is separated awaiting a divorce. They thought they could date, and they knew they were wrong in having sex. But they did not know it was ADULTERY to EVEN DATE before the divorce. He was divorced before he was saved, by the way.

So I dealt with them on how not only did they knew they were wrong about fornicating, but that even the thought of dating was adultery because HE IS STILL MARRIED!

Re: Satan and Our Pursuit for Self

"I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep..."

I don't know of any pastors that have not seen that problem before...and surely, it is one that
could have been averted. All cases of fornication and adultery have the same root; it is the
people in the situation that are different: it is their level of faith and maturity.

Too often, we judge believers as having the same faith and maturity as ourselves, when we should
be more critical. There are those who are satisfied in the service of the Temple for salvation.

We should be able to discern if they are serving the Temple (denomination) or are truly in the Spirit.
