Re: NT Ministry an Extension of the OT Priesthood?
Exodus 19:6
Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
6 and ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel
I believe it was originally the will of God for Israel to be a nation of priests. But because of carnality, God had to use a plan B priesthood. (one tribe)
Same goes for us, If we dont realize our own "personal" priesthood, because of carnality, we will go find ourselves priests to minister to us and do our ministering for us.

When the people refused to go up the mount on Pentecost, a change was made (although God planned for it all).
We are now that nation of priests ( Revelation 1:6).

Amen, I am not giving up my priesthood to "carnality", I accept the challenge that the Lord has for us to walk in the Spirit.

No. The OT priesthood was a type and shadow of Christ. The church as a whole is to now function as a nation of priests, reflecting the priesthood of Christ.

I believe you are both right, albeit there was no plan B. The tabernacle priest were a type of Christ, but they were not ministers to the people rather to God. Their primary responsibility was to God, secondly to teach the people when the people fell into idolatry.
What we tend to miss, was the tabernacle was first and foremost God's dwelling place in the midst of his people, that were to be kings and priest to the world. The primary purpose of the sacrifices were in worship to God not sin sacrifices.
The nation as a whole was to be the light to the world, as a type of the kingdom of God today. Where Christ is our high priest, and God dwells in the temple of our hearts, and we are the light of the world, the salt of the earth.

Re: NT Ministry an Extension of the OT Priesthood?
I meant the "whole nation" was supposed to be priests as Plan A (or the original will of God) for ministry in the tabernacle. Sorry, I didnt clarify that. My bad.
