Isn't GOA a group that started because some were disgruntled with the NRA leadership a few years a go?

It is interesting how liberal Australia has gone over the past 40 years or so. My dad seriously contemplated moving to Australia back when I was about 10 years old. Probably around 1969 or so. They were recruiting heavy equipment operators as they were experiencing a lot of growth. Now it is just about impossible to get a job in Australia as there are so many restrictions and limitations.

BTW Australia is the next big trip I have planned. Hopefully 2015 or at the latest 2016.

Re: NRA Are You A Member?

I plan on whipping out my CC and joining in the next day or two. Up until recently I really didn't want to (just like I won't join our states Right to Life group again) because of the massive internal soliciting they do. Also the NRA is a one issue group to the extreme in that they ONLY rate on things related to guns. For instance, Harry Reid has a B+ rating from them and you can see it in the way he quietly lets gun control issues die in the Senate. He never makes pro-gun statements so as not to upset his liberal base but he is just doesn't push anti-gun control nearly to the point that he might as well be actively blocking it.

Re: NRA Are You A Member?

Anybody about to join the NRA needs to look around and the various promotions right now. Not only is it $10 off so just $25 but different offers have different gifts. I foolishly signed up through the first ad I saw and got a stupid cap as a gimme then five minutes later I saw one were the promo was a $20 Bass Pro gift card. I would have much rather had that!

Yes, they felt NRA caved on some key issues. GOA Head Larry Pratt is a good guy.

I have been members of both Gun Owners of America and the NRA.
