Looks like the Obama administration may have to respond to a petition seeking the green light for Texas to secede from the United States—one of 20 such requests filed on the official White House website since Election Day.
At the time of the writing of this post, the Texas secession petition had garnered 25,318 signatures—above the White House's self-imposed rules for requiring a reply.

I have heard 17 states are filing similar petitions, including here in Arkansas.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it have to go to the ballots after the petition? I can't see a state making this kind of move unless it was given a full vote by all citizens.
That being said, succession would still be complicated and hard to achieve. Not sure people are THAT fed up. . . . . yet.

Just a bunch of tea party nuts
Theres Not one state in the union that could stand on their own.
Loud mouth, cant remember 3 thing Perry couldn't even pay for a fire without whining & then goes begging on blended knees for Federal AID.
Fat boy in NJ started asking FOR FEDERAL AID BEFORE there was any damage.

I don't believe Perry agrees with this. And he did not whine or beg on bended knees. He was praying. Thankfully he and President Obama understand the difference. A lot of Americans are ungrateful, spoiled brats.

Actually your wrong here. While most states would struggle to stand alone, studies have shown that Texas could stand on its own with little trouble.
With Texas as a foundation, surrounding states would easily be able stand and it could spread from there. Pretty sure New Mexico and Arizona would jump on board.
Such a scenerio would be devastating to the Fed. The effects of NAFTA would be halted.

States trying to pull away from the Union are just racist republican governors.. Georgia is listed as one, .. and that is NOT the people of Georgia's wishes either.. only the racist tea party republicans are angry because President Obama got re-elected... I have a great idea, since Texas is so big, all of the racist people should move to Texas, build a fence around it completely and let them have the whole State.... Then our country (USA) would be better, not having racism and so much hate.

Most all the republican states are very poor, like South Carolina. So many need Food Stamps and Government help, then yet they complain because of having these programs that they use... So funny how people think ..
