Re: Jehovah's Witness

I also had a run in with a JW. The first words out of his mouth--there is no Trinity. I said you are right. There is no Trinity, BUT, God is the head, brain, and life of His body of believers and His name is Jesus Christ. He is a Unity of which we are a part. Then I invited them in and showed them scripture. The same young fellow has been back to my house three times, each time I show him scripture that backs my claim. It's been a while since his last visit--but maybe something got through to him. I took his tracks and read them--can't change a mind if you don't know where they are going wrong.

...and they won't come back if their 'superiors' advise them not to. I think they send the new JWs out to do the proselytizing. We have JW neighbors and have enjoyed company with them in their home. They are the kindest, sweetest neighbors who do not bother anybody. Never heard any aggressive 'witnessing' from them. We talked about Jesus, but they have never denied Him being God in front of us.

We once had 2 women come to our door to want to do a teaching to my husband about how to be a good father to the children. Thank goodness for their sake that my husband was not at home at the time. I'm like huh???

Who sends women out to teach men how to be good daddies to their children?

Be informed about this group when they knock on your door.

My brother's marriage was broken up partly because of his wife being a JW. He said they kept sending people over to talk to him even though he's told them to leave him alone.

He came from the same catholic background I did and after years of dealing with JWs, he now claims to be atheist.

Re: Jehovah's Witness

They came to my door various times. A few times I sat down with them to discuss the word. Their main point is that Jesus is not Jehovah. I believe the word soundly proved them wrong. There Bible is somewhat different than the KJV.

I do admire their zeal. Few groups are so devoted to their ministry as this. They actually train people to go and evangelize. Oh that "Apostolic" Churches had such a vision!

Re: Jehovah's Witness

@areyouready, that's funny. Women telling a man they don't even know how to be a good father.

To be honest, I don't admire their zeal, if that is what you can call. Their type of zeal is tearing into people. They're on fire in the wrong way, and they've burnt, and are burning, alot of people. And then, when you try and approach them, and discuss, they shut you down, especially when you point out chinks in their doctrine. And then they target the weaker saints, like in my case, targeting my little brothers. I felt like laughing at him. Was a seventeen year old really that scary? lol.

We need to have a passion that drives us to do things, to reach out, to sacrifice for others, not to beat them down, not to target the weak, not to shut out any possible threats to what we believe.

Maybe you have not been around many different Churches or orgs. What I admire is the fact that their meetings are like training sessions. Teaching their members how to take what they feel is the gospel to the world.

Most Churches Oneness included are more like professional preachers speaking to an audience. Time after time after time. Thats their vision. To go "to Church". I feel sorry for people who have only known this kind of Church system. The JW's actually have a vision that they live for.

Re: Jehovah's Witness

That's true. I don't really agree with professional preaching either. That's the opposite. Both do damage to people.

That said, JW aren't the only aggressive lot. I know a group of Baptists who are just as aggressive.

Nope. They seem very conscientious, and we should remember that God judges a HEART.
