yes, June 2013. I wanted to visit in March during my school's vacation but from what I read March is not a good time to go to Yosemite.

Redwoods is too far north. My daughter has been to San Diego and LA more than a few times. She might want to go again but she sounds excited about visiting SF. I'm from Maine and not a big lobster fan. The ferry to Alcatraz sounds interesting.

Be warned however there are some freaky people in Cali (said with kindness from a native)... A couple of years ago while I was in SF I was innocently eating lunch at the Warf when the 'Naked Bike Ride' came through. Of course I'm completely unoffended by nudity and grabbed my camera phone to get some pics of the men with pink ribbons tied around their penises so I could prove I saw what I saw to the docs at work... But my poor daughter in law almost died of embarrassment. The whole parade was led by a fully nude man (except knee and elbow pads) on roller blades... They were right in front of us for five minutes until the light changed... very gross fat folks too... and no one got arrested. NOT something one would ever see in Houston.

All the smoke shops take some getting used to as do the white kids with dreds.
Ugh...on naked fat men. Is this a common occurence or did you hit gay pride week?

It didn't have anything to do with gay pride.. it was about clean transportation I think... but the point is here if a guy cruises around with his junk hanging out he gets arrested... there... not so. Frisco is just a much looser place in general and there is a high tolerance for 'uniqueness' and encouragement to be risque.

So will you see naked people? Maybe not... but if you do, don't expect anyone to be alarmed about it or about other behavior that would shock many Christians out of their socks.

Re: California vacation

If you are a conservative I highly recommend visiting the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in the Simi Valley about 45 minutes out from Burbank / Hollywood. It is first class with a lot of interactive multimedia presentations walking you through RR's life and Presidency and a few years ago they added the old Boeing 707 Air Force One that RR and other Presidents used for many years until it was replaced by the 747 that George Bush Sr. used.

If anybody in your family is a car buff I also highly recommend the Peterson Car Museum in LA.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

We've been to several presidential libraries, including Rheagan's....but our favorite, so far, is the Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, CA. Also, the Sequoia Nation Forest is a great place to visit.

I love the drive from LA to San Diego on the PCH! And don't forget to visit San Juan Capistrano Mission.

Thanks for the suggestions but I don't think either of us are interested in politics or cars.

Hey Miz, guess what the last name of the only people to ever escape Alcatraz was?
