Yes, it is a very sad thing. That is why we must have this in our heart so when others fall that they don't drag us down with them .

Re: Apology

There are some that leave an organization and still try to live a life pleasing to God, but there are others that do go downward into sin, and I know of one that now says he is an atheist. That is really sad.

The same could be said for people that stay in an organization.

Here is another UPC preacher who went a "different path" apparently similar to the one here that saddens you so you might as well get sad again. His name is Corey Trimble and he pastors The Experience Community Church in Middle Tennessee. A church that has grown from a handful of members at its inception 2 1/2 years ago to around 200 - 250 today. A church that in the last several months has baptized over 20 people in Jesus name, 90% of them young adults. (I know old time Oneness Pentecostal churches who have not baptized 20 people in the last ten years)

In addition to being sad over his doctrine you will probably also want to be sad over the dress code. It is very informal with the pastor and praise team often wearing jeans, casual shirts, and tennis shoes or sandals depending on the weather.

I hate to again make you said right here at Christmas time but could actually continue my list of great men of God who have gone that "different path" and are embracing the great commission. I just don't know if you could endure the sadness though so I will stop. For now at least!

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Apology

Melody, I have seen a number of preachers that I have held in great esteem start heading down that path. I agree that it breaks my heart. I tremble in dread to see where they will end up in a few years. I have watched things that I was raised to consider an abomination occur on a "Pentecostal" campground. I am not going to say who, where, or when, but my sister brought the report home, and later I saw the video of the event on youtube.

However, this is why we must not follow men after men but follow after Christ instead. Men who may have taught truth may compromise, but the truth of the Word is what we must hold to. I have watched family backslide and leave this truth, but it has not stirred me to leave. I bear in mind all of those whom I have to see on the other side, and I recommit to traveling on. I do this every few days.

I believe many would say what I quoted you here on is exactly what those men are doing. They are getting back to the Bible / Christianity itself stripped down from the things men have added on to it over the years and have become Pentecostal culture / traditions.

Looks like you and Melody are in for a lot of angst because I see more men of God realizing they have to get back to the Bible to really fulfill the great commission than I ever have in my 52 years in or around old time Pentecost.

It is exciting for someone like me who believes the church has been in a ditch busy measuring each others skirt length and whether or not a man has facial hair while the world is suffering mightily and going to hell in a handbasket.

Re: Apology

You should be sad about the ones that stayed on the "path" that are sinning. But, they still look the same on the outside.
