I LOVE Verbal Bean...I "get" him! - Page 2

I received the Holy Ghost in 1958. A few weeks later, we visited a revival in Irving, Tx,
where I met a young man who would become my husband. The evangelist was Verbal Bean. I believe at that time he was in his late 20's, unmarried and what a evangelist he was. Not only could he preach, but also sing and play his guitar. My husband and many of his family received the Holy Ghost in that revival. A younger brother and sister of mine also received the Holy Ghost in the 100 soul revival. Seems it went on for about 12 weeks or so.

What was his personality like? In his book, he seems very "Fatherly" in wanting to lead ministers into the things of God. The book is transcribed from tapes of him speaking to Bible school students. It's hard to get tone out of reading material, but he seemed balanced. He would say things here and there in it that I questioned, but then balanced it later on.
Why would people not have liked him?

I was just a girl of 18 yrs. and we young ladies thought he was so handsome, and were somewhat infatuated that he was single. He was very serious, but seemed pleasant. That has been over 50 yrs ago.
His son, Joel Bean is on Facebook. Joel resembles his late father.

A simple search on FB for "Joel Bean" brought him right up, do you have FB page?

I have read the following books by Verbal Bean:
Prayer copyright 1991
The Works of the Holy Ghost, copyright 1993
The Battlefield, copy right 2001

These books were not actually written by him but are transcripts of sermons etc. compiled by Steven Carrier

In "The Battlefield" there is a chapter titled "The Scummy Pot" based on Ezekiel 24:2-17. It is on pages 71-88

I have never met him or heard a recorded sermon/teaching of his.

Try "Prayer" it is a wonderful book.

Love Bro Bean! His impact on the church continues today! Wonderful man. There is a place you can buy audio sermons by him but i'm not real sure where it is. I'll try to find out and let ya know.

I have his books also. Wish I could have been blessed to hear him preach before he died.
