Re: Elder Frank Curts Book

I remember when some houses/buildings got torn down on Hopple Street to make room for the express way.

I remember a family named Belver living above a store on the same side as the Church. The Dad's name was Earl. They had three daughters. One was named Vivian and one was named Ramona. Next door to the church was a store that we just referred to as Jack's because an elderly couple, Jack and Rose, lived in the back rooms and ran that store. There was a vacant theater across the street from the church. On the same side of Colerain as the church there was a restaurant named Lucians (I think). There was a storefront church down the street from the church at 2930. It was some kind of Baptist church and the sidewalk would be crowded with people standing outside the church smoking and talking before and after service. I think there was also an ice cream store or a pizza place a little farther down the street. For several months I lived in a second floor apartment of a house on Sidney Street a couple blocks behind the church. And from 1957 until 1966 I worked at a place called OPW at the corner of Marshall and Colerain.

Do you remember the pickel factory on Hinshaw Ave that sat just behind Kroger store. And Doctor Holfman office close to the corner of Hopple and Colerain. And the old troley busses that run up and down Colerain. I remember watching from my parents bedroom window when they would jump off of the power line, it would take them a long time to hook back up.

I don't remember the pickle factory or Dr. Hoffman but I do remember the trolleys. I've been on them when they would make a turn and get disconnected from their power lines and the driver would have to get back there and get them re-connected.

Re: Elder Frank Curts Book

Do you remember the Haffner brothers tannery that sat at the corner of Taft Field on Hopple st. on the left just before you got to Central Parkwy. My Dad used to work there in about 1957. He used to have a bee hive that sat on the factory property and I would watch him smoke them out to get the honey. Sure wish I could find some pictures of Taft Field and The old Tannery. Got a lot of memories of Taft Field and the Tannery. My siblings and I use to go to Camp Washington School in 1958. But it's no longer there.

I don't remember the tannery. I don't remember the date when stuff on Hopple Street got torn down to make room for I75 and the Hopple Street exit.

Re: Elder Frank Curts Book

an old picture of Bro. Curts teaching on the Tabernacle.

I think this was taken at the Church at 2930 Colerain but I have no idea when. That church used to be named Bethlehem Tabernacle but when I came down here in 1957 it was called The Apostolic Church.
