Re: Nazarene Preacher to be baptized!
Just a few thoughts today...
Our Bible College and Seminary works to send out truth teaching materials that we self-publish and bind to Pastors in foreign fields to help them with beginning Bible Colleges and Seminaries. My husband has to his credit over twenty books and the next coming into print that will be offered on Amazon and does have a current IBN number yet you can't order it just yet until the next printing come out....lol...Is called,"Which Bible Should You Use." This book is an indepth study for the serious Bible scholor and concerns ancient manuscripts and original texts. Be looking for us on Amazon
and with your local Christian bookstores in the next few months.
The author is Dr.Bruce Klein ThD

Re: Nazarene Preacher to be baptized!
Great when someone comes into this truth! I remenber in 1978 when I stumbled upon a Charismatic Church that had just began baptizing in Jesus name. I had been praying about doing it and so I did. It opened up a greater understanding of Jesus Christ for me.

This is the thread I was looking for! But it looks like the offensive remarks were removed which I'm glad to see. However, there is still a post from Socialite that should be removed. It's clear what he's trying to say and it's uncalled for.
Apostolics, let's not be afraid to proclaim the truth of Acts 2:38 and Jesus name baptism!! It is the ONLY way to salvation and any other baptism is a worthless baptism and a path way to hell! We shouldn't be afraid to say that!!

Report my post then if you have a problem with it.
I view the person as saved, and being re-baptized to changing churches is no cause for celebration for me.
I will celebrate if they received Spirit baptism. That's awesome -- praise Jesus.

Re: Nazarene Preacher to be baptized!
A reminder of the official AFF definition of "Apostolic":
"Let it be understood that Apostolic Friends Forum is an Apostolic Forum.
Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
There is One God. This one God reveals Himself as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
Every sinner must repent of their sins.
That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.
Rules of Conduct
This discussion board is for Apostolic Pentecostal Christians who believe that the Bible, in its entirety, is the Word of God, is without error, and that it is completely relevant today. We welcome and encourage visitors of other faiths to post and ask sincere questions in their honest search to learn more of our faith and about our wonderful Lord, Savior, and God whose name is Jesus Christ. We do not, however, give place for the tearing down, the disputing of, or destruction of, Apostolic doctrine, the Apostolic ministry, or the Christian faith in any form. The propagation of any doctrine that is contrary to the Apostolic doctrine is not welcome here."

Fine! *foot stamp*
But I have no intention of inquiring into your "faith" on this particular matter and in this particular post. I believed it for 3 decades.
It just sounds absurd. Go win unsaved people -- quit discipling people church-to-church.

Re: Nazarene Preacher to be baptized!
I practice baptism in Jesus name. I preach baptism in Jesus name. I don't believe it's a magic formula or a point of contention so that people, who are already saved by grace through faith in Jesus, should be re-baptized or even regarded as "getting saved" because of their "rebaptism." That's not Apostolic at all.

You're calling being identified with Christ through the calling of His precious name a baptism a magic formula? That is so offensive, I'm not even sure how to respond!!! God help you and your profound disrespect to the name that is above all other names, the strong tower in which the righteous run into and are safe, the only name by which there is salvation, the name by which we do everything!!!
No, calling on the name of Jesus is not a magic formula but it is the only name that can be said at baptism which will result in the remission of our sins and thereby prepare us for eternity! Without the name of Jesus called upon at baptism, there is no heaven and only eternal suffering!
Brother, please take back your disrespectful statement! I fear for you!

That's exactly what I don't call it
Second bolded statement -- I disagree. We are saved by grace through faith. Your second bolded statement has turned that "precious, glorious, wonderful" name into a magic formula. The words aren't saving you. Jesus is. The entire point of someone being baptized, in a Christian setting, is because of Christ. It's a given that they are being baptized as a disciple of Jesus.
I practice and preach baptism into the name of Jesus. Our candidates profess their faith publicly, in a testimonial-type way. But I don't, not even for a minute, think that saves us.
