Yeah, as I recall, I didn't even receive a single vote. I suspect foul play!

I really believe that you and I could have changed the UPC for the better. But we'll never know now, will we? Well, there's that one little difference that you and I have, but so far, it's worked out pretty well, don't ya think?

8. General Conference. Electronic voting will begin in Houston in 2010...

This is good but not enough. Some other denominations have non ministerial representatives (with voting rights) from among the laity.

If we are making and interpreting policy that effects constituents beyond pastors, then representatives of the same should have voting rights.

Re: General Board Meeting News: From DKB's Desk

I hate to see the UPC pull back from media missions. I think maybe the financial structure of the UPC does not bring enough money into the mothership for much to be done on a National level.

Does the UPC publish the budgets of each department and the total annual income of the mothership?

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

The United Pentecostal Church is in trouble. I have a friend who works at the headquarters building and he said that the Media Division and Publishing House were shut down. He said that the Sunday School department laid off the promotions man, Robbie Knox and that many others were asked to take a pay cut.

Sounds like they are cleaning house.

Why does the Sunday School dept need a promotions man?

Why do they need Global Impact?

What does a headquarters for an ministerial organization do?

BTW, it's not like other non Christian companies are not asking folks to take a pay cut in this economy.

Ok fine, so it wasn't "one little difference". It was actually 4,118 differences, but I thought if I campaigned for just one little difference, I could get my foot in the door.
