You have been taking a long and wearisome railroad journey. For hours you have been traveling through the dust and heat. You are nearing home, and brook with impatience each delay. At midnight you are awakened by the slowing of your train. It bumps, jars and creaks, and finally comes to a standstill. You wait, and wait. You peer out the gloom with your face pressed against the car window. Five, ten, twenty minutes pass. Still all is quiet with no sign of a move. You drum at the window pane. You turn wearily in your seat. You wonder when the weary wait will end.

Presently there is a sound in the distance. The rattle and clatter come nearer. Then there is a rush, a roar, the red glare of a great fiery eye and the monster engine and its trail of coaches sweeps by you in an instant and is swallowed up in the encircling darkness.

You have waited long. Now you can see. You see in a vision the awful death which would have come to you had you gone on. You see the wise forethought which kept you waiting on the track. The only safe thing to do was to have waited. Had you gone on it would have been to the the wreckage and death of a fiery collision.

Is your heart there and your body here? Are you eager for service and yet hindered on every side? Is the horizon of life so narrowed by circumstances as to become almost unbearable? Then God's waiting time is best for you.

Wait - and you will see barriers razed. Wait - and you will see circumstances change. Wait - and you will see God bringing things to pass beyond all of your dreams. Wait and you shall see.

For "He worketh for him that waits for Him."

Why do we refer to the scripture that Rhoni used, as talking about trials and such?? It says that we won't be TEMPTED beyond that which we can bear. I have heard all my life that it means he won't put anymore burden on us than we can bear. I don't read it like that.

Am I alone in this thinking??? (Not rebuking you, Rhoni...just curious)

I have asked the question myself oftentimes..."How long, Lord, how long????"

WhollyHis,
I have found, in my experience, that "how long" is when He thinks it's "long enough". Even in those times that I thought I couldn't take it anymore - I was able to reach for more trust and more faith.

That truly lets me know that He won't put more on me.

Pastor Poster...thank-you so much. Lady Coonskinner has told me to keep walking, others to keep standing, and many of you have told me not to be weary in well-doing, that I shall reap if I faint not...The part you have quoted from Joy Haney's book is excellent.

The truth is that I do believe and I know that behind the scenes God is working something totally awesome. I keep thinking around every corner..."Is this it?" One day it will be.

I continue to remember every prophecy, every word from ministry, every affirmation from God, and I do know that I am in 'transition' and when I come through it Malvaro I shall be as refined as silver and gold.

Blessings, Rhoni

There was not even one scripture mentioned in any of Rhoni's posts in this thread. However, in 1 Corinthians 10:13 we're told that we will not be tempted beyone what we're able to bear. The Greek word used in that passage has the following meanings:
  1. to try whether a thing can be done
    1. to attempt, endeavour
  2. to try, make trial of, test: for the purpose of ascertaining his quantity, or what he thinks, or how he will behave himself
  3. in a good sense
  4. in a bad sense, to test one maliciously, craftily to put to the proof his feelings or judgments
  5. to try or test one's faith, virtue, character, by enticement to sin
    1. to solicit to sin, to tempt 1c
  6. of the temptations of the devil
  7. after the OT usage
    1. of God: to inflict evils upon one in order to prove his character and the steadfastness of his faith
    2. men are said to tempt God by exhibitions of distrust, as though they wished to try whether he is not justly distrusted
    3. by impious or wicked conduct to test God's justice and patience, and to challenge him, as it were to give proof of his perfections.
In Romans 5:3-5 Paul said, "And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us." The Greek word translated "tribulations" and "tribulation" there has the following meanings:
  1. a pressing, pressing together, pressure
  2. metaphorically: oppression, affliction, tribulation, distress, straits

Just curious as to what others think?

Our pastor preached an awesome message last night about praying the prayer of rememberance and gave alot of scriptural text.I remembered how many times I have gone through things and asked the Lord to look down upon the palms of His hands and see me there and remember me.Its not wrong to cry
out to God for deliverance. We don't need to be just surviving either.God is good.

Rhoni,

I know EXACTLY how you feel. We are in a period of transition right now. Don't know exactly how God's gonna work it, but I KNOW He's gonna do it. I may get frustrated to the point I make my self sick, but I KNOW that he's gonna take care of me. I am to the point where I can't FEEL, I just KNOW that God is there and He DOES care for me and He KNOWS where I am!!!!

I can say that with assurance because that's what He's been telling me. I was so upset the other day, and said (actually screamed) "God you've got to give me a word," and I opened the Bible and it fell to the 40th chapter of Isaiah. I was sooooo whacked out that I didn't realize what chapter I was reading and got to the 31st verse.....They they WAIT on the Lord SHALL renew their strength, they SHALL mount up with wings as eagles, they SHALL run and not be weary, they SHALL walk and not faint.

SHALL mean it WILL happen. It may not be happening right now, but it WILL come to pass.

Rhoni, hold to that scripture. Don't let anyone or anything detract you from HIS purpose. HIS purpose is ALL that really matters. You are here for HIS purpose, not yours.

REST in HIM and HIS purpose.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to thine own understanding and He shall direct they path.

Love ya girl, just felt like the Lord wanted me to say that to ya. I hope it helps. Feel free to pm and I'll give you my number if you need to talk.

One of the best analogies I heard for life was by a pastor who likened those periods of everything going "right" to vacations.

He said we all enjoy vacations where you get to stay in a hotel room that you don't have to clean, eat meals you don't have to prepare, etc but after that week or two you start missing home.

In life home is our usual state where we are simultaneously juggling things that make us happy, things that make us sad, things that bring us joy, and things that stress us out.

I think when we get impatient and frustrated is when it seems that the stressful and sad things get out of balance with the good things and appear to dominate our lives for an extended period of time.
