And just a few of my favorite scriptures: Philippians 3:12
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. (Read this in the Message - I love it!)
1 Peter 2:21
For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

Biblical standards of holiness have to do with being separate from sin.
Quote:
alcohol is off limits
britches are to be worn by men only
a lady's hair should be long/uncut
a guy's hair should be cut short
in paying tithes
you should attend church regularly
cussing is wrong
moving pictures are evil
sports are immoral
All of the stuff you listed are not sinful in and of themselves. But there are principles that underly these that are important and disobeying these principles is what would constitute sinfulness.

OK, most know that I'm not Pentecostal, don't consider myself Apostolic, barely even Christian anymore (most AFFers would say definitely not Christian, which is fine), so my "standards" are probably irrelevant. But yes, I do have them. Even some that have to do with "outward appearance", believe it or not. So, even if it's just to satisfy your curiosity and nothing more, here they are:
1. Love, provide for, and protect my family.
2. Be faithful to my wife.
3. Love and live at peace with my fellow man.
4. Dress appropriately for the occasion.
5. Get a haircut whenever my wife says to.
That's pretty much it. The most important ones, I suppose. Not that the haircut one is all that important... to me.... though it does seem important to my wife!

Speaking of "moving pictures," the other day, I set my camera to "sports mode" and took photos of my girls doing cartwheels in the front yard. While in sports mode, I can press & hold the shutter button & my camera will take photos one after another in quick succession. Later, while viewing the pictures online, I noticed that by clicking "next, next, next, next...," it was like watching "moving pictures!" I thought, "Oh no! I've just sinned by watching a moving picture!!" Then it occurred to me that I better not ever create or view a flip book either! WHEW! Good thing I've seen the light.
...now, whatever shall I do with all of my home movies?
