Re: Going for a CT scan, please pray

So...anyways. over 3 weeks ago I was having a headache and some pain near my ear. It was also starting to swell up. During the night I was popping Tylenol every 4 hours and at one point had the chills.

Next day I went to Dialysis and they took my temp at 100.2...not much to worry about to me. Per routine they called my doctor and he said I should to to the ER and get checked out. I was not going to go. During treatment I started feeling worse and had the worse case of chills ever. Post treatment temp was 104. I didn't like the look of shock on some of the nurses faces lol. I didn't feel like driving either so I took an ambulance trip to the ER...later bill is 600 but my insurance brings it down to about 60 (It would have been like that before Obama was president so please don't credit him).

Got to ER and spent a long time before a room cold be arranged. Meanwhile they are giving me bags full of ice and telling me to put them under my arm pits. Blood drawn, saline lock stuck in my arm. They draw cultures. Later they drew more. My Doctor said my saliva gland was swollen and that this was sort of common for dialysis patients. Prescription was lemon drops...I kid you not. Hard a hard time getting them but with my means they kept giving me tea with lemons so I sucked on them....it was the only think worth eating on the trays...food was terrible and I didn't have much of an appetite anyways.

Also had a b12 and D deficiency. Temp started coming down once they pumped anti-biotics in me. IV infiltrated and my arm was twice the size of normal.

Finally got the lemon drops. Got tired of Tylenol so I tried vicodin and puked my guts out....which wasn't much. I guess if you take it on an empty stomach you can get sick.

All kinds of tests...Doctor finally said we need to do a CT and I almost refused. But the CT showed the mastoid bone behind the ear was infected. I also had had a sinus infection for a long time too. Nobody is sure but that might have been what caused this. The bacteria got into my blood.

So after I got out of the hospital I was on antibiotics for just over 3 weeks. The CT scan shows a little inflammation still but no errodation, which is good. I go for another CT in about 2 months.

Oh yeah. the Lemons...I told one Dr that the lemons worked good...Iwas supposed to suck on lemon drops to get the saliva gland working, but since I didn't get any he wrote a prescription for 6 lemons with each of my meals :-)

Thank you Jesus everything is turning good.

Prax you could be allergic to vidocin. I found out I was allergic to it because within 30 minutes of the shots I was throwing up. By the time we figured out I was allergic I was nearly having seizures. Unfortunately, the nurses was not cluing in that everytime they gave me a shot I got sick, I had to ask them "could" I be allergic to it. Their response, "You said you were not allergic to anything on your chart"...hello I guess I had never had any vicodin!

So I am only suggesting you beware if you take it again and throw up, you are most likely allergic to it and possibly codiene. I found out the hard way, they are both a form of codiene.

Re: Going for a CT scan, please pray

My husband has a problem with vicoden. They gave him a prescription for 1-2 pills. He takes a 1/2 a pill and does good with that. I gave him 2 once and he threw up and up and up.......horrible when you are miserable in the first place.

Prax, hope this is all behind you now.
