Re: 74% CEO's fear Obama Presidency

I am with Mike on this. Without looking into all the intricasies, the average person would view the fact that McCain is the choice of CEOs as a bad thing...given the current stereotype of the GOP being more beholden to big business and big money lobbyists.

I've heard it all now!! It's the Dem's fault that we aren't out of Iraq now.

You'll have to peddle that line to someone who doesn't know the truth. Things like Dick Cheney twisted arms at the CIA to get the intelligence he wanted and that failure Donald Rumsfeld didn't have adequate numbers of troops to invade Iraq despite warnings from Colin Powell and other generals.

The assertion that somehow the Dem's are responsible for the failure in Iraq is laughable considering it was a Republican President and defense secretary that received every blank check from Congress that they asked for in their war.
Yes, they gave the check, all the while undermining its success in the political arena. Demonizing Bush and the war, all for the desire to regain power, showing their total lack of character. It is easy to have 20/20 hindsight about how the war had been prosecuted, but is takes a leader to go to war when it is necessary. The UN and Europe talk, talk and talk, but Bush made a decision, and if they rest of the world would support the war on terror the terrorists would be defeated. If Obama wins, the war stops the enemy gets stronger and harder to defeat. Want and example? Just look at Israel, every time they give more land or more concessions, their neighbors use it as a base for go for more all the while bombing and rocketing Israeli cities. They will not stop the must be defeated, they are evil and talking and not taking a stand and sticking with it just empowers the to continue.

Five hundred and fifty five tons of "yellow cake" was just sold to Canada, from guess where, yea, Iraq. But there was no nuclear program or WMD's in Iraq.

We have not had another 911, why? Because Bush had the guts to stand up to the terrorists. The Democrats never have the courage to finish the enemy off, our allies will not trust us, and our enemies will laugh. The leadership in DC is so divided that the terror know they can just wait us out and wear us down and we will quit. Harry Reid said the war was lost, if it was lost, who won? The terrorists?

Well, we can currently see the effects of the Democrats, (Barney Franks and his great leadership), understanding of economics. The GOP knows that business creates the jobs, have you ever had a job from a poor person??? The Demos love jobs, but hate employers.
It is cause and effect, and the Demos don't have a clue.

Obama criticizes McCain for opposing regulation in general, but it was McCain and the Republicans that in 2005 tried to regulate Fannie and Freddie, and the Demos response was, "...it ain't broke so we ain't fixing it". Seems the GOP had the right idea just lacked the votes to pass anything.

I can understand why you say that Tstew, but folks have to remember the CEO's are a part of both parties. It is not a party issues, IMO.

Except for the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac mess, the dems are responsible for not allowing the safe guards put in place when the Republicans asked for them.

This has caused a lot of this ecomonic snowball as I understand it.

We can agree to disagree crakjak because I realize I'm not going to convince you and you're not going to convince me. The war in Iraq was not necessary. Al-qaeda was not in Iraq until we invaded Iraq. They'd never had a base of operation there. You know that.

Turns out all of that "talk, talk, talk" the U.N. did with their sanctions actually worked!! Wow, imagine that. Those sanctions and resolutions had actually done the trick seeing as there was no WMD in Iraq. The greatest part of all that "talk, talk, talk" was it didn't cost a single American solider their life. "Talk, talk, talk" sure seems more cost effective than American bloodshed to me.

The enemy is already getting stronger. That's happening under the watchful eye of GWB. Check out the reports on Afghanistan. You remember Afghanistan right? The country where the 9/11 terrorists actually plotted and then carried out 9/11 from? Al-qaeda and the Taliban are at pre-9/11 strength because we took our eye of the ball and waged a needless war in Iraq. It's time someone committed to actually waging the War on Terror again and finding and killing our enemies. Unfortunately the last 5 years, that hasn't happened.

All of the Monday morning quarterbacking cannot change the fact that EVERY single credible intelligence agency in the world believed the Iraqia had WMDs: Britain, Germany, Russia, France and others. Even countries that were opposed to our going in were in agreement that Saddam had weapons that violated the 1991 cease-fire agreement.

Now Saddam either actually had WMDs and found a way to get rid of them or hide them or he will go down in history as the biggest baffoon head of state ever. If he didn't have WMDs, he sure made sure we all thought he had them, jerking the inspectors around, acting suspicious, tampering with seals and moving things around. If he didn't have MWDs, at any point before and after military action was taken against him he could've simply settled the issue with an open invitation to come and inspect the entire country, the palaces, the factories, the warehouses and simply say, "Bush is attacking me for nothing---see I have not given you any grief in inspecting even my personal residences." He would've won the war of world opinion and it would've been politicall impossible for Bush to wage war against him. It would've been a huge PR disaster for Bush.

But what did he do? He remained defiant to the very end. Even to the death. Its hard for me to believe that Saddam was willing to give it all up, even his life, for a lie.

You can say the war in Iraq was not necessary but what has been the result? Not ONE terror attack on our soil and no major attacks on embassies, naval ships, or other 90s style attacks around the globe. Even Osama Bi Laden said that Iraq was the central front in this war. It was a wise choice: take the fighting over there to eleviate the chances of attacks here.

Besides that, 50 million people who lived under the reign of a man who killed millions of his own people were set free, voted democratically for the first time EVER, have enjoyed relative peace and a rising prosperity. Folks are getting a taste of freedom and the benefits it brings.

"Talk, talk, talk" did not stop Saddam from violating the UN resolutions 21 times. What kind of credibility is that? He made a mockery of world opinion and didn't deserve to remain in power. The bloodshed over there has not been in vain, they have fought for freedom, they have fought for our security, they have fought admirably and with courage.

The enemy is stronger? They seemed much stronger in the 90s during the Clinton years when they were over here bombing the World Trade Center in 1993, the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, the embassies in Africa, the ambassador in Jordan, the naval ships in Yemen. What are they doing now? They are contained to a sliver of land in a remote part of the world lobbing a few mortars at our troops. Give me a break! Stronger than ever? Hardly.

Esther, I know that. I'm just talking about perception by the average person. That's why I said "without looking into all of the intricasies". For better or worse or whether deserved or not, the GOP is becoming known as the party for big business, big oil, big multi-national conglomerates, and the military-industrial complex. Dick Cheney and GWB have certainly not helped this perception. I'm just saying that on face value if people feel like big business and CEOs are not excited about an Obama Presidency, it could play into that whole perception.

Oh, that the media could be so clear. This is actually the bottom line, but the libs only react and join in the defense of the country AFTER we have been attacked. They, even then, only stay on board long enough for cover for their treasonous actions.
