I understand what you are saying, it was a stereotype of the city of Plano, but I think that has dissipated quite a bit. I went to the Plano church back in 1980 and was there when Bro. Mangun left for LA and Bro. Rigdon took the church.

You said not the church people - wasn't sure if you meant the congregation was ok, but that we had snobby leadership. I understand now.

Re: Dallas Metroplex Churches ?
Progressive or liberal? (Concerning the Plano church) as I am very conservative in my views concerning adornment and holiness in general. When I look at a churches website and click on "about us" there are certain things I look for. When reading the statement of faith for Abundant Life http://www.alcplano.org/AboutALC/Sta...6/Default.aspx I see no mention of the Baptism in Jesus Name or receiving the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. If thats "progressive" I dont think that will be the place for me. Now, I understand a lot of ministries dont want to be associated or considered Apostolic anymore but that is the basics for being saved and if the statement of faith does not reflect that coupled with it being taught at the church, hmmmmmmm, I dont think thats ok.

Re: Dallas Metroplex Churches ?
You might like to visit around.... the churches you listed are all very different.....have heard good reports about all on the list.
Please try to visit Peace Church in Mesquite at Beltline & Tripp. There are some precious people in that church. Also, you will love Bro Baker.
That church was pastored my Bro Murray Layne and his son Bro. Keith Layne. Both have passed away.
Which Dallas burb are you located in or do you live in east Dallas or north Dallas or other..... Travel in Dallas not too bad on Sunday.
I would rule out Bro. Stanley unless you are accustomed to a certain kind of leadership which I will not discuss.
Distance is important to me at this time in my life...

You probably should go to Bro. Hargove's in Garland or Bro. Gore's in Wylie, or possibly Bro. Flowers, the rest will likely be too liberal for you.

I might fit in those churches, as you CC1 would likely also, that should tell you something.

Plano is far from conservative now... no offense to my one poster friend who goes there as I have many friends there but they do not uphold standards there at all really.

I think you have pretty much summed it up.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
