I was told it was just a statement he made in his sermon, that he was preaching about raising your children to serve God. THen he just up and makes this unqualified statement.
Can anyone find out exactly or get a clip?
I would be curious to know.

This statement was made by WH. I talked with a very close minister friend of min who grew up under WH in his church.
He told me that WH has always believed and taught this.
I do not agree with this concept. However, it makes me think no less of this wonderful man of God.

I would rephrase it to say: "If your son (or daughter) is not a messenger of the Gospel, that is a waste." We all should be spreading the Good News!

As always, such sound judgment and wisdom in one so young...good post, MissyB...
Off topic a bit, but what amazes me is the sometimes...not always, but sometimes lack of training which precedes passing a mantle of leadership.
It is not uncommon for a carpenter or small businessman to desire to pass on said profession/business to a son/son in law.
However, who in their right thinking would do so without properly training the individual in every area...showing them the ropes, as it were, and giving them the opportunity to get their feet wet in the well of expereince before the reins are handed over?!

Ain't that the truth. Cabinets that don't hang right. Crooked fences. Wal Mart.

The statement was intended for preachers who are raising sons... The statement was indeed made, but in that context..

Are you saying my facts were distorted? That is what I have heard from a reliable friend that was there. Have you heard the message? I doubt this friend made it up!
