If you get a chance, watch the IMAX movie about the Hubble telescope. They actually move you around our galaxy looking at various stars and then even leave our galaxy to enter other galaxies. It gives you some impression of just how big the universe is. It's mind boggling.

The thing that always stretches my mind is the thought that, surely, the universe can never end. If you reach the "end" of the universe... there has to be something else... there can't be a wall... an end... there can be no end to space.

That is dizzying.
Unless it curves around on itself, like a balloon. In that case, you'd come back to Earth, eventually, if you traveled in a straight line, for a really long time.

There doesn't necessarily have to be another star on the other side of the fifth one... but there has to be something... even if it's empty space... it can't stop.
Like the walls in this room... that's the end of the room... but there's still something on the other side.
