As I said before...several times now, Please by all means discuss issues. I believe we CAN without having to always to "The UPC this and the UPC that".

I never silenced anyone. I never said we should not discuss topics even those that pertain directly or indirectly with the UPC.
In fact any honest person reading this forum would have to admit I have discussed many many topics that do and I have both defended and opposed certain views.

Think about the Amish. Can people live the Amish lifestyle without God? Of course they can. It is simply a matter of wearing the right clothes and abstaining from certain behaviors. Anybody can be Amish without being spiritual.
The thing is, the Amish measure a person's spirituality by the clothes they wear and the behaviors they have.
There are things that are obviously ungodly. Shooting heroin, for example. Someone could not live a godly lifestyle and shoot heroin. However, most people in this world are not living a lifestyle that is overtly sinful. They wake up in the morning, make a sandwich for lunch, go to their jobs and kiss their children at night. All these people would have to do in any religion that measures godliness by external measures is to simply do these external measures to be accepted. They would not need an experience with God. They get baptized the way thus and church says to. They pay tithes. They do whatever they need to do. But does this prove their spirituality the way thus and so church says it does? Or does it just prove to the people that attend that church that this person is "on board" and trying to please the church members?
I think the only time spirituality and church membership cannot be faked is with people who have extreme addictions that they can't control. These people can be delivered and then live a truly spiritual life. But for the majority of people, they don't need a spiritual experience to follow some rules and abstain or do certain behaviors and they fit right in, completely without any experience with God.
