Better to trust one with a Masters Degree that can weigh the evidence, yea? Than to trust a man that has never had one, and cannot back up his claims?

LOL. I respect degrees. I really do. But 2 things:

1. Having a degree does not impact ones ability to weigh evidence.
2. It's better to trust the evidence than a man's opinions and conclusions (whether that man has a degree or not). If his opinions and conclusions make sense after hearing all the evidence then I'll agree with him, if not then I won't.

1 - I disagree. How can you the weigh evidence, if you don't understand the reason for it being part of the scriptures in the first place? One glance at I Timothy 2:12 would make you think Paul was against/had something against women. It's deeper than that. I've went from not believing in them to believing in them, all because of this thread and verses I had never noticed were apart of the scriptures. (Or at least why they are there)

2 - Why would it be an opinion if it's straight from scripture? Opinions are opinions. If you prove it, it's not an opinion.

No one, including Jason Dulle, can give you an answer straight from scripture. It cannot be done because the question isn't about what scripture says but how to understand what scripture says. As such it becomes a matter of opinion, unless you can exhaustively show that every other viewpoint is contradictory.

How can you weigh the evidence when you don't understand the reason for it being in scriptue in the first place? No one understands this no matter how much they might claim to. All they have is their opinions.

Re: Do You Believe In Women Preachers?

In order to study history, many things need to be examined. Often you can read one persons account and not get the clearer picture until you examine other historical data. We tend to look at the writings left behind and compare them. We can also look at ruins and date them or other factors

The bible is not much different. In order to understand much of what the bible is saying we have to look at when it was written, to whom and why.

When you lay all those factors side by side with scriptures then a clearer picture comes into view

1,876 .... 25,676 .... What interesting numbers. What an interesting thread!

25,676 people have taken a look at this thread. Only 1,876 folks have given their opinion. It would then seem to me like there are 23,800 very wise folks on AFF. jmo.
