It reversed their stand and they owe Phillips and Hanby an apology.

By preaching against something that is in the manual that is not, "wholeheartedly disapproved of," is not good practice.

There is an ethincs question though.
The right way to form/be part of a new Org.
1. Resign from the UPCI, lapse on dues, however one does that. WIth a letter such as the one this thread is about.
2. Don't mass mail invitation to the membership.
3.Go to the new thing as a a free preacher, while maintaining as much ties as possible with the preachers who stay.
I just can't find fault with brethren who follow their convictions and do so with a good spirit, not hating or fighting anyone.
I am inclined to think that TV was the straw that broke the camels back, not the log, and that a lot of these fellows are leaving because of a trend.
If an org does form in Tulsa, I pray that they have good success and a great revival.
Even though I am not anti TV, I am still not convinced it was the best move for the UPCI. And, time will tell what fruit it bears.
NOW, There is an ethical responsibility on the part of the ORg, they need to NOT put these brethren on the drop list in the Forward lumped with the adulterers and drunks.
They, if listed at all should be noted that they are in good standing.

Have any you ever heard these guys when they really get going on certain ISSUES??? It's downright scary. Their faces turn deep red and their faces squeeze up and they pound their pulpits and stomp around the platform yelling and screaming that folks who watch TV are gonna split hell WIDE OPEN!!! Have you never witnessed this???
Or refusing fellowship with your brethren in the faith? Or subverting your district functions? Or influencing young ministers to follow your lead?
Not too militant or hateful...no not at all...

One exer's militia and hatefulness is another principled, ethical minister's dedication to his beliefs and convictions.
What YOU give a name to isn't necessarily what it is

I don't think so. Things change over time. To say that because a stance is changed 30 years later they owe an apology is not right to me.
The truth is at both the AMF meeting I attended a few years ago and last years AMC conference I saw many ultra con women with not only watches on but ones with decorative metal bands rather than plain leather.
I have a feeling that 30 years ago I would have not seen that at an AMF meeting. Do you think the AMF should apologize to the women back then that were not allowed to wear watches like that and now are?
