BIG DIFFERENCE!!
The term is two years...if he stays on until the district conference he FULFILLED HIS ENTIRE TERM....therefore he DID NOT RESIGN he simply did not run again.
Also, every term for DS is two years! If a man fulfills the office those two years and someone else gets voted in....he did not get voted out!!!! The term is over and it starts all over every two years.

Thanks for the clarification T1.

Exactly...even more verification that one who decides to not let his name run neither resigns nor is voted out....and one who doesn't get the nomination isn't voted out either...it's a clean slate every time....
If one quits mid-term, now that is a resignation...if he stays on until the next vote...that is fulfillment of his entire term and he just decided to let someone else play....

you're welcome...just wanted to keep it straight since it is obvious that the title of this thread is misinformation.

When someone is in an elected position that is voted on every two years, and he chooses to not put his name in the hat anymore, what do you call it?
retirement?
reclusion?
relinguishment?
abdication?
resignation?

Sorry...t1...YOUR statement is inaccurate. AT THE TIME that Thad posted this, this was indeed a fact. You were not at the meeting and have not spoken to anyone who was at the meeting. If I was to call the reaction of RM at that moment...it was a little premature. However, that was the statement made. NOW, apparently he talked to a few people afterwards and was able to "cool" a little. An email/letter went out the subsequent day of which was posted here in this thread. At this time, with 2 months left to the District Conference, RM is staying on as Superintendent and will not be Superintendent after that meeting.
The title may be "misinformed" at this juncture...but at the time that it was posted and created...it was what was happening.

Exactly.
Pianoman...he is voluntarily not going to let his name be even considered for the job that he has occupied for the last few years. When you voluntarily step away from a job, I call that resignation. The conference will be voting on a new Superintendent to fill the vacancy he is leaving in May.

Speaking of California, I am getting ready to move to the State and will be starting a new church around the Redlands area, or thereabouts. Look forward to it!

That will be part of the Southern California District if approved by the vote. We do welcome your inclusion into the "Taxbase of Arh-nie-land"

Is this related to the church you are at in Winnipeg, or a separate endeavor?

BooM
Better check it out. My contacts tell me that this has not gone through the GB. I could be wrong about the Conference floor.
