Prax I can tell you how it happened that the women became the prayer warriors for the church. During times of war when the men were off in battle, women left behind prayed and travailed before the Lord.

live4him, God made MEN to be the spiritual leaders, and IF women are "carrying" the home or the church, it is because men are being irresponsible, NOT because of the woman's hair.

Unfortunately, men have been conditioned to think that leading their home is pretty much "do what I say", when in fact it ought to be "I'll be talking to God every morning, so don't disturb me during that time." (A good place to start anyway.)

And when women take over, some men just step back and say, "Okay, have at it."

This is a PROBLEM having to do with weak and emasculated men, but the solution is NOT in women's hair--the solution is for men to act like men, and for women to act like women. Women can be spiritual and prayerful without taking AWAY a man's authority in the home, church or community.

Women do have to step up to the plate sometimes, but in reality, women cannot replace men in any way, even when they try, because the male presence and authority is needed and really can't be duplicated.

Were there not wars and battles in Bible days? Did the men come home to find that women had taken over their positions of authority? That women were the spiritual leaders because the men had been gone, or worse, carnal?

I am nothing...so do not take this post wrong...but with Brother Alvear gone I sure have carried a giant size man´s load...
I agree we need MORE MEN to step up...
I have no problem whatsoever with men in leadership...but I sure have had to lead a lot lately...I am exhausted!
Am off now to make visits...
However I have nothing evil to say about anyone...time does it´s job well revealing what we all are.

See the real problem is her long hair is supposed to be a symbol of the man's position in order of creation on her head. What we got now is women rebelling against that and making it instead something entirely different. Maybe that is what is really wrong with the church today?
Though my view is a little different on the hair issue than most. I firmly agree with this. Our churches have been run over with women being out of place in the church. God created each according to his purpose and that divine order does not change. Feminizing of the church is IMO a greater sin than half the stuff many in the UPC scream about!

Exactly. It has been perverted into a symbol of female POWER instead of a symbol of female SUBMISSION.

Apostolic feminism.
Women who refuse to depend on their husbands.
Women who kick their husband out of the way when he isn't "spiritual" enough to suit their tastes.
Women who work out of the home, putting their children in daycare, and feel justified in doing so, so they can have luxuries.
Women who believe they have more spiritual power than men and use their long hair as a bargaining chip with God.
Women who believe leading a prayer meeting is more important than changing their child's diaper. (Yes, I meant that exactly as I said it.)
Women who believe they are the protectors of their home, and have no idea what the "weaker vessel" is.

I don't think God is very pleased with this brand of feminism. It's an old trick with a new, Apostolic face.
