Thors day wasn't adopted by the church and baptized into Christianity.
That's just a part of the world system in which you live in. You are part of the world but not of the world. Yet, xmas you embrace and call it Christian.
Big difference between that and Thors' day and Woden's day.

I use x-mas because I don't see much Christ like behavior going on, instead it's gimme, gimme, spend , spend until your in dept, maxed out! Stupid! Beside it's not my b-day or yours so why all the guilt and pressure to buy a bunch of cheap junk that breaks or gets tossed out! They should rename the Holiday to Consumer Day, because that's what it has become!
I see nothing wrong with family's and friends getting together having a dinner, just spending the day thinking on Christ.
But I still beleive people have the right to do whatever they feel when it comes to X-Mas!

God doesn't like the mixture and that is what I seek to shun.
Mars hill was named after a pagan deity of war. But we still hear that name reiterated in the Word. There was no attempt on Paul's part to try to get them to change the name of the hill. He simply preached Christ to them without condemnation.
Nor did Paul attempt to adapt any of their methods by which they worshiped their false deities into his own worship of the true and living God.
The third month of the year is named after that same god. I have no Biblical mandate to get this world to change its secular ways and rename all of their months & days... I just preach Christ without condemnation during all of those months & days.
It seems to me to be a wise and prudent balance that I not attempt to have this world change it's names to suit me while I attempt, at the same time, to ensure that none of their ways find their way into my worship either.
Thursday is not something I offer to God as worship. It is a day in which I live and move and have my being in Him.
If the name of the day becomes part of my worship then I have begun to cross a line.
We are in the world but not of the world. We are in this world and have to consist therein. But none of these pagan influences that we meet day by day need find their way in the way I form my worship to the true and living God.
Though i live my life daily in a world full of spiritual impurities... I can still work with all that is within me to keep that offering of worship that I give to Him free of those influences.

Brother, the above quote from you is so beautiful and is also the right way to handle these pagan holidays.
God Bless you, in Jesus Name

Amen, you are correct. People can celebrate whatever they want, do as they very well please. As for me and mine we will refuse the Mithra bush and his celebration. The Dec 25th holiday has nothing to do with Christ, and people go to great measures to show the world that Jesus has nothing to do with the Yule Tide. As you said Sister, they are nasty as nails when it comes to this festival.

Those of you who obey Jer.10....do you observe all the O.T. scriptures/commands? or just pick and choose?
I do not ask this in jest or to cause a fight....I ask this out of sincere interest.

I have not met many people who believe Jer 10 makes reference to todays custom.

But you're not being consistent, you are being incorrect. Thor's day is secular world, and your pine tree is not secular, but a sacrament that was borrowed from the Catholics from the pagans and adopted by mainstream Churchians.
