In Canada, as in Britain (Where are Parliamentary system comes from) the Queen or as in Canada's case the Governor General of Canada, always opens a new session of Parliament with a speech from the throne.
She or her Representative in Canada, is forbidden by law & tradition/custom from ever entering the House of Commons in either Canada, or Great Britain.
The House of Commons is the seat of Government & so everyone has to go to the Senate (where people are appointed not elected-I don't like that aspect I prefer the American model) to hear the speech.
The Seargent at Arms brings a mace to the door of the House of Commons & raps three times on the door until it is opened.
He then proclaims that Her Majesty or in our Case the Governor General request the Members of Parliament to come to the Senate to hear the speech
from the throne.
I know it is all ceremony but I say all this to point out that there are protocols
for the Queen & her Representative to be separate, how much more should Politics & Church?
A Church in Canada is supposed to be a Non Profit entity which means it is also non partisan.
I think that is a good thing.
Only Royalty I want in Church is the King of Kings.
Just my three cents (exchange!)
