LOL - if you need it that badly you should go over there and ask them for it. If you're too <bwack bwack> for that you could always find some local Muslims in your area and go demand it. I am personally highly interested in knowing how that worked out for you.

As to me, since I pay my fair share and you and the rest of America, especially if you are one of those 50% collecting their handouts, not paying anything, or getting "tax credits" for taxes you never paid (yeah I know you're one of them, the louder you shout the more dependent you are) should thank me and people like me that I do it.

As to respect - LOL. For you? This is where dirty, close-minded, and filthy christians would still be if it were not for the Muslims:

Eventually, Christians were prohibited from bathing naked and, overall, the church began to not approve an indulgence in the habit of bathing. This culminated in the Medieval church authorities proclaiming that bathing led to immorality, promiscuous sex, and diseases.

This latter “disease” point was very common; it was believed in many parts of Europe that water could carry disease into the body through the pores in the skin. According to one medical treaty of the 16th century, “Water baths warm the body, but weaken the organism and widen pores. That’s why they can be dangerous and cause different diseases, even death.” It wasn’t just diseases from the water itself they were worried about. They also felt that with the pores widened after a bath, this resulted in infections of the air having easier access to the body. Hence, bathing became connected with spread of diseases, not just immorality.

For most lower class citizens, particularly men, this resulted in them completely forgoing bathing. During this time, people tended to restrict their hygienic arrangements to just washing hands, parts of the face, and rinsing their mouths. Washing one’s entire face was thought to be dangerous as it was believed to cause catarrh and weaken the eyesight, so even this was infrequent.

On the other hand:

Roman-type baths were continued and/or re-established in Islamic countries through the medieval and Renaissance periods, and bathing was endorsed by Islamic writers. The hammam, referred to in modern times as the 'Turkish Bath,' was a major feature of Islamic culture, and preserved the Roman traditions of cleaning the body first, then soaking and socializing.

Your thanks to them though was to level their civilization. Or at least try to. That hasn't exactly worked out but there is always partial credit for trying.

Of course, teaching you to bathe also brings this into the community: (you sure have come a long way towards those "women's rights")

ABEOKUTA — A 46-year-old Pastor, Olamide Sobowale, of Glory Church of Christ Aladura, Oke-Itoku, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has been ordered to be remanded in prison for allegedly raping a woman while bathing in his church backyard.

Pastor Sobowale, who was arraigned before a Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, yesterday, was accused of raping one Dupe Makinde, 30, who lives in Isaje, Abeokuta, while taking a spiritual bath allegedly recommended by the pastor.
