This is very relevant to the subject honestly this is the subject. The hatred toward the ministry seethes on this thread. I saw a bumper sticker years ago that read "speed on brother Hell ain't half full." The ministry will NEVER be able to set up a road block that will stop self-decieved people determined to destroy themselves and their families and any poor deluted simple soul that they may influence.

In the end, following Jesus is a personal quest -- one that can, and should be, traveled among a crowd but, many times, even within the crowd, the quest can be lonely.
Keep seeking Jesus, you'll find him. He said so.

Thanks Nate
It's no surprise that I agree with you, since we share the same brain

God will lead you to the right house and you will once again be in fellowship, with the people where He leads you.
If God leads you back to a UPC church, by all means, run to it and don't look back. But if He leads you elsewhere, listen to His voice and not the voice of men. God is your ultimate authority, but I do believe you need the voice of a shepherd in your life too.

I always appreciate all the prayers I can get!
I am still currently attending a UPC church, though I have repeatedly been informed that my twice a month is not good enough

Unfortunately it seems that way.
If you disagree with the concepts:
1. if you don't have a preacher to rule over your life you will go to hell
2. if you don't obey everything you are told by a preacher whether or not it's backed up by scripture you will go to hell.
3. if you don't go to service every time the door is open you will go to hell.
etc
then you are labelled as a preacher hater. Some have said that they don't want blind obedience yet they want obedience to what they say regardless.
But it's ok for preachers to hate saints who have beards (male), saints who wear pants (female), saints who .... whatever the rule of the day?
I believe that the 5-fold ministry is for the maturing of the saints, etc. But preacher isn't in the 5-fold ministry.
There are some:
Apostles
Prophets
Pastors
Evangelists
Teachers
Now if you notice it's ALL those that worked TOGETHER to mature the saint -- not just one -- the preacher.
The scripture used over and over again here Rom 10 is used out of context to what is being discussed. Paul was speaking of Israel and the fact that they had heard the Gospel through preaching. This does not mean that if you are not ruled by a preacher that you are lost because you will have no faith. This is the initial hearing of the Gospel.

12 So whenever you speak, or whatever you do, remember that you will be judged by the law of love, the law that set you free. 13 For there will be no mercy for you if you have not been merciful to others. But if you have been merciful, then God's mercy toward you will win out over his judgment against you.
