Re: Charnock's Hates Sin Thread
But, yeah, Dr. Peter D'Adamo is heady and high-minded so, as Christians, we must hate him.

I still tend to see bad before good. I don't know if I'll ever rid myself of the negativism, fear, and gloominess. But so often, positivity is a choice that has to be made.....daily. In II Corinthians 4, where Paul said "We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken. We are perplexed, but we don't give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going", a few verses later he said:
"That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day."
Overcoming anything.....anything.....is a daily process. AA has tapped into this truth. Unfortunately, many times, Pentecostals are fed the "Magic Wand" strategy where we go to church, whoop it up, speak in tongues, and everything is fine forever. But it doesn't work that way. It's a daily thing.

WOW! I guess it's no wonder you grabbed onto a pendulum when given opportunity. I did the buggy for Jesus thing and still yet never experienced such eternal insecurity!

We are to hate sin, but not each other. Sometimes that's hard to tell, isn't it?

Hate the sin, but love the sinner. Wouldn't we want to be loved even if we are in sin?
Did Jesus hate the sinner?

According to EB, He only loved repentant sinners.

I wonder what caused them to become repentant...?
