O.K. Got to weigh in here. I am a U.P.C. lifer. (Between my wife and I, we have a 100 years in this movement.) My understanding is that you can not renew your License as a UPC minister without signing an oath that you will obstain from t.v. So, why do you participate in the activities that t.v. televises? Paul said, "those who take pleasure in those things (sin) are just as guilty as those who do them. ...(paraphrase). Obviously t.v. is sin, otherwise, UPC wouldn't require its ministers to obstain. Frankly, after a half century in this movement, I am tired of the hypocrisy!

So TV is a SIN??? A sin???
According to the AS and the Manual...it only states a minister will not have a TV in the home. I have read no language where TV is a sin.

This is where I would differ. TV programming is not sin anymore than books are sin. For me it's not a huge temptation at all and I don't have it - can't see that the benefits outwiegh the negative influence. But sin? Nah.

I know our opinions differ and we see the light of day regarding t.v.
T.v. like anything else, can be a sin if it becomes your god and you worship it by giving it too much of your time and energies.
My critique is regarding the UPC movement and it stance on t.v. versus the attitude of their ministers.

I highlighted your assertion. Is it the invention itself, or the shows that are on it?
One could say that radio, internet, magazines, newspapers and such are sin too, because of the filth that one can find in them!
Just like the other mentioned media, I believe one can use a Godly conscience to determine what is and what isn't healthy spiritually to watch.

TV is a sin in the same manner that the internet is a sin.

The bolded part I 100% agree with. You can substitute anything in for TV and the statement would be true.
With your latter statement, I think people are seeing the total hypocricy in saying you can have one and not the other. Amazing how many people can have self-control on the internet and none on TV.
