Even in CA. there are pockets where it's harder than other places. Santa Barabra is Very affluent. they have never been able to get much of a church going there. People like Oprah live there most of the winter.

BOOMM I thought of your area as hard to reach but i will say Bro McD has beaten the odds. That's the hippie, grass smoking tree hugging capitol of CA
CA central valleys to the east of the bay are what is known as the "bible belt of the west". even the Bay area has some really thriving churches.

You will have to excuse me, as I am new here and I don't want to be out of line, but your post really grated on my nerves. I was in the ND district a few years ago for awhile and I have to say that you will be hard pressed to find more dedicated people than the pastors and ministers of the ND district. You said "so much for reaching the state of ND". I can't determine your tone from that statement, but if you are implying that there is a lack of dedication in ND then you are very much mistaken. The ND district may be small, and yes, there are few churches and fewer people than in some of the "bigger" more glitzier districts, but I have never in my life known such dedication on the part of the ministers and pastors there. If more young men would truly dedicate themselves to the furtherance of the gospel and commit themselves to the cause of Christ in the way that some of these men have, we would see more revival and souls saved everywhere. I have lived in a larger state in the western US where there are more than one district per state (ND itself is only one district), but I did not find the caliber of minsters that I have seen in ND. The ministers in ND are isolated, many 2 or more hours from fellowshipping with other pastors and saints. And yet, they have such faith and dedication to the Gospel. It makes me ashamed at times when I watch those older than me and how much they have given to the cause of Christ. Every district has it's struggles, but the quality of the people in ND (and SD for that matter) is much higher than you may find elsewhere. It doesn't surprise me if this rumor is true, and it is kind of humorous to joke about how small ND is as a district. But, I just wish there were more men of dedication and character who would go out to that part of the country and labor like the ministers that are there and have paved the way. Perhaps you were just saying that we should have more churches in ND and less in San Diego County. That would be a true statement also. I wanted to put my 2 cents wort in for those who have never experienced life in the ND district. It may be comical to those in bigger states, and I recognize that, but I have experienced both sides of the coin and have to say that there is a committment to the Truth out in the Dakotas that you will not find elsewhere. Do not be so quick to criticize a situation you have never experienced for yourself.

I am now stepping off of my soapbox.

1992....

WELCOME to AFF. Hope you enjoy your time here.

Let me address your post. I am in no way questioning the dedication or character of the ministers of the ND district. You might see that from time to time we may question decisions, actions, and theologies of some ministers, but in no way am I questioning the dedication and/or character of the ministers in the district.

One of the problems with written words is that we prescribe our own "tone" to other people's posts. This can, at times, bring undue confusion or a misinterpretation of what is actually said. One of the things you will know about me is that I do not dispute what I say, and will admit if I am wrong. When the first post was written, I read 14 churches in the state of ND...and later on that they were all small churches. Thinking aloud, which some of us will do on here, I questioned why so small. I was told over and over again, after that post, that it is hard to start churches...a different mindset in ND...and a place no one wants to be.

I still take issue with some people trying to "second class" their district or church or whatever. People have to get into a "first class" mentality. I would like to hear some of the people say that North Dakota is a GREAT district with GREAT people, GREAT ministers and God is moving, etc. Instead we hear about how small the churches are, how it is so hard, no one wants to live there, we are not as big as other districts.....last time I looked God was not a respector of persons. Just being a church founded on the truth should make that church "glitzy".

This is a discussion board where we will discuss things. If you are around here long, you will say things and people will question you. It is the nature of this board.

Once again, I am not questioning the dedication and character of the ministers of the ND district.

And once again, welcome to AFF!

Bro. Walters has not been DS in ND for several years.

I know his history...I know his feelings on the TV issue. Thad knows well I was eating lunch with Bro. Walters at Olive Garden in Salt Lake when we ran into each other there. I have never been close to Bro. Walters due to distance, time, and other factors, but we have a few...individuals...in common.

I know enough of his background to say, that even though I disagree with him on the issues at hand, he has always stood behind what he has said he will do. He retired from the Bismark church, and now in what should be the years of his life he has some personal time to enjoy with family, he has attempted to revive a work that had closed as best I remembered the story. You will never find a man more dedicated to the cause of Christ. You will never find a man more passionate for souls. His integrity is above question, IMHO.

I have not called him, nor have I inquired from anyone as to whether this story is true. It will not change the good he has done.

I do know that their Supt. Pearson is in tight with Frost from CA, Garrett from AZ. It is not suprise that he is pulling out, it has been coming for a long time. If he has any pull on the few churchs up there (which he does, he keeps getting elected) then it would be now suprise they go out with him. South Dakota is nothing like North Dakota. I happen to know from a very, Very Very CLose source in that district they are nothing like that. I just spoke to one of SD Officials a couple of weeks ago. Just so you know all of their 8 pastors up there in SD is an official so good luck in figuring out which one it is. hhahah
