I agree my Dad was both as well. It is like a singer who can also preach. They are blessed with more than one talent.

There is a minister in my church that I think listens to too many preaching tapes. When he preaches he has a lot of what I consider "UPC cliches" that don't have scriptural backing. My pastor doesn't preach like that at all and we don't have many visiting ministers so I figure he must have gotten his style from tapes or CDs. Too bad because I prefer a good solid message from the Bible (which my pastor excels at) rather than the latest bywords.

Elder Henry Mobley is a great teacher he is a professor of history and French at the Uof T.
Elder Fred Shepard is a good teacher.
Elder Jim Lee is a good teacher.
Elder James Swindle is a good teacher.

Your Father had one of the finest "minds" in modern day Pentecost. At 5 and 6 years old when a child normally isn't wanting to hear anything but "Amen!" I remember sitting with rapt attention to teaching that I remember vividly to this day over 55 years later!

This post seems to make teachers superior to preachers in many ways. I don't think the Bible (or anyone else for that matter) really agrees with you.  Every single time you said "preacher" you should have prefaced it with "novice", and every time you said "teacher" you should have prefaced it with "good", because you are comparing traits of a GOOD teacher to those of an inexperienced, immature or ignorant preacher.
There are plenty of GOOD preachers, and there are plenty of ignorant teachers.
I give this post an F.

Assuming you're right...which is more important? The conversion or the road? Can you have one without the other?
